or maybe opening tip next season. I saw a mock draft that he fell out of the first round, would be surprised if he declared knowing there was a chance he wouldn't go first round. After this disappointing season record wise and his injury Its not a give in the he's going into the draft.

I really feel this could go both ways. I have to believe Jank & medical staff have held him out so the injury does not jeopardize his NBA future. On the other hand, if he is not a lock down 1st round pick, it would not be in his best interests to declare. We have all seen what not being selected in the 1st round does. Going to the G League making $26K per season is not great with the outside chance of being brought up to the NBA. Selfishly, I hope he returns. However, my gut says he will declare which I do not think is his best move.

And I think chances are he comes back. Get his degree, solidify his draft status. Scouts have probably provided a ton of feedback on what he needs to work on, mainly strength.

That slide isn't based on anything more than not playing for a month while others have put more stuff on tape. Pretty sure that he'll rise right back up after he get's a chance to be evaluated by NBA scouts at the combine and individual work outs. 6'6 guards with 7 foot wingspans great handles and a smooth shot don't grow on trees.

I agree, he is gone. Everything has been to get him prepared for the NBA draft.

One interesting thing to note, ESPNΓÇÖs basketball power index gives SMU an 80% chance of winning. The past few games they have had us as underdogs, usually big underdogs. They have to know something to have that big of a swing. No way anyone would pick us as a favorite without Shake. Just sayin....

Thanks for the link, hadn't seen their mock before - have they been pretty accurate in the past do you know? I hope that he goes and gets picked in the first round, would be great for SMU. I just hope it's clear and he's not on the bubble as absolute worst case would be for him to go and NOT get picked in the first round. He's younger than Semi and an extra year in school wouldn't have a huge impact on him I don't think. Whatever it takes for him to be a first round pick is obviously the best option, whether that's this year or next year.

Also saw some odds to win the AAC tourney on CBS and we are 4th at 25/1 - my immediate thought was the same - do they know something I don't about Shake? Otherwise how in the world could they have us anywhere close to that high?
