Watching on BroncoVision

Post by Charleston Pony »

go to smumustangs.com and pick up the live telecast at no charge

Game tied at 16. Boy are we a boring bball team! I've seen a couple of long rebound/fast break opportunities and we pull it up and walk the ball up the court. I guess Dement has decided the only way this team can win is to slow the game down and hold the opponent below 60 pts.

Have we been playing like this all year or is this a concern about playing at higher elevation (the fatigue factor)?

Boise has started pressing and we are falling apart. They must sense a fatigue factor. I don't get it. Are we a poorly conditioned team?

I think most people have given up on this team. I just logged on - tied at half? That is quite surprising to me.

yes, it's boring. we've been playing like this all year - we can't run a fast break..that might be one reason. every time we have had a 2 or 3 on 1 this year, it has rarely worked out well. In the Sasser/Hancock days we stole a ton on defense scored in transition...not so now at all.

Incredibly poor shooting by Boise has kept us in the game. For awhile, we actually were passing the ball on offense and moving, but we broke that anomoly, and went back to standing around and watching BHop dribble.

The quality of Bronco vision about the same as Owl vision, not as good as Baylor's. I hope the guys that are picking our product are checking them all out

I've seen these guys play Purdue, OSU and now this game and the thing that really stands out is the lack of intensity after the Purdue game. Today, it appears to be by design. We've had plenty of opportunities to run and we are taking the air out of the ball. I don't understand it. We are not a good half court team. I don't understand why Dement doesn't want to run to create offense.

I expect Boise to press more in the 2nd half and try to force tempo. It appears Dement is afraid of getting fatigued ...I wouldn't think playing at 2700 ft would be that much of an issue.

1st half - what did Lowe look like? I think he adds more to the team than I give him credit for.

Lowe got some hustle rebounds in the 1st half, but was one of the guys who stood out slowing things down. I expect he's following coach's orders and providing that senior leadership that is always a good thing to have.

Thank God these Broncos can't hit the side of a barn. Show a little composure down the stretch, Mustangs.

Interesting comment by the Bronco's announcer on SMU's style:

"This is not good for college basketball. I realize Priceton and a few other teams effectively use this slow down style, but it is not entertaining"

I have to agree. I'll take ANY win at this point, but 60 points a game half court basketball is not entertaining, and IMO we have the roster to play up-tempo.
