Adam Grosbard of the Dallas Morning News has reported that SMU has landed former Wyoming offensive lineman Brinkley Jolly as a graduate transfer ΓÇö an announcement Jolly appears to confirm on his Twitter account. Jolly, from Liberty, Mo., was listed by Wyoming at 6-5, 277 going into last season.

More depth at tackle... he lost his starting spot at Wyoming mid-year last year, and their OL was worse than ours, so I wouldn't expect him to start.

Re: Graduate transfer OL heading to SMU
I think its even more basic. We discussed this last year but Morris usually had an unusually small number of scholarship Offensive Linemen on the roster. In the spring of 2017 it was small with about 15-16 scholarship players but remember he cleaned out about 3-4 more in Saena (who wanted to come back), McNeil, Fister and I think there was a 4th-oh yeah Braylon Hyder. That left us with 12 scholarship Offensive Linemen for the 2017 season
Assuming an 85 man roster with 2 specialists-that leaves 83 players for 22 positions which would be 3.72 scholarships for each positions x 5 Offensive Lineman =18.6 which would be the expected number of offensive lineman on a balanced roster. I brought this up several times that we had small numbers in the Offensive Line from what one would expect.
Insiders on the pay sites said that SMU coaches weren't concerned because in Morris' system the Guards and Tackles were more interchangeable since his spread offense required conditioned offensive lineman who could handle tempo. And quite frankly they performed at a much higher level than could have been expected with historic increases in passing/rushing production and sacks have gone way way down each year.
But obviously Sonny is going back to a more traditional concept of adding more balanced numbers to the Offensive Line. I think we are looking at 10 returning linemen 5 recruits (including 3 JUCOs) + 1 grad transfer which would be 16 (or +4 from start of 2017 season) Pretty big jump in one year

Not sure Morris really knows what it takes to build a D-I program. So glad we have Sonny now.

Offense is enough......no defense or special teams required.

It will be interesting to see how the hog fans handle the first, or second, or third time someone hangs 60 on Arkansas.

If they lose at Colorado State, the honeymoon may end quickly.

Re: Graduate transfer OL heading to SMU
Arkansas' 1-7 finish in the SEC included losses by 18, 23, 26, 32 & 32 points so there is a reason Chad Morris is there, but I'm sure their fans' memories will be short if they lose by similar margins this year. Oh...and let's not forget the 21 point loss to TCU. Even lowly SMU was as competitive with the frogs and we played at TCU.

I do not know if Chavis will be successful or not but he at least commands enough respect that Arkansas is recruiting to defensive needs rather than how it was done here.

Arkansas fans are not expecting a huge turn around Morris' first year..just progress.

That is correct. And they are buying into everything he says right now. I am very interested in seeing how he does. He just flipped a 4 star receiver from Missouri a couple of days ago.
But I will say the way Sonny has plugged holes and also recruited the newbies well it is plain to see he has D1 head coaching experience that Chad is still learning.
