Impact of the Indoor Practice Facility
I know we have kind of joked back and forth on the board about the impact on recruiting... but it was really interesting to hear Dykes talk about how the kids really hit a wall when school started and they had to switch practice to the afternoons and practice in the heat. In the old days, maybe you push the kids through that and practice a little longer to provide breaks, but you can't do that now.
So, maybe that indoor practice facility is going to have a bigger impact that just being able to hold a quality practice on a rainy day. That heat might be one of the reasons SMU gets off to such a slow start every year.

Yes, they specifically talk about the heat in the promo video. No question it makes a difference.

Indoor Practice Facility doesn't mean jack except for recruiting.

If that is really true then we should just stop playing football. It's Texas. It's hot. We are really going to spend millions of $$ so that a minuscule subset of our students, students who but for the football program wouldn't be at the school anyway, can train in cooler temperatures.
Fund the academics for God's sake. Something the "university" can benefit from. According to the last Times World College Report, SMU ranks academically in the 350-400 range globally. That's shocking for a school with the resources of SMU.

Yeah it is hot outside and it sucks. Even UNT has an IPF on the way. This isn't junction boys.

SMH at some of the responses in this thread.
and some of you wonder why SMU has been in the dumps or why coaches want to leave the Hilltop for better offers?

hate to break it to you but "we" aren't spending millions on it. Donors are, who have every right to decide how they want to spend their money.
the real question that has yet to be answered is how will the campus breathe now?
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

and using the Times World College Report as a measuring stick for where our University stands among it's peers is like MexMustang using the Directors Cup as a measuring stick for the performance of our Athletic Department.

Yet TCU, Baylor and NOW NTSU turned their programs around without one.

NTSU is SMU in year two of JJ. They havenΓÇÖt turned squat around yet
Re: Impact of the Indoor Practice Facility
It gives us the opportunity to not practice in the weather - if the staff wants to practice in Ford to prep for weather, that is still an option.
No one can say we don't have one anymore.

The Times report is well regarded where I come from. But maybe thatΓÇÖs just because we like the results.
Is there another global ranking system that you prefer? IΓÇÖm always curious.
