Women's Soccer

Post by swann »

The article by the Sport's Information Dept. was incorrect. The highest ranking women's soccer team ever was the 1995 team which finished No.3 with a 23-1-1 record. They were coached by Alan Kirkup and had the No.1 and No.2 goal scorers in the nation(Danielle Garrett and Courtney Linex). At least they finally got rid of that awful Coach Ryan who was an absolute idiot.

Well said, Swann! Ryan was a complete idiot who almost buried the program -- how he got the coaching gig at Colorado College (once a national power in women's soccer) is a complete mystery. Coach Kirkup had the program on the verge of joining the nation's elite, and now he's building the program at Arkansas - best of luck to him. But Coach Van Linder seems to have the program here headed in the right direction, and the future looks very bright for the women's team.
