Why would Holgorson consider leaving WV where he has survived early criticism and now has things under control and is the profile for the entire state?? Leaving P5 for Houston makes no sense.

At Houston he can be a big fish in a small pond whereas at West Virginia he is at a middling school in the Big XII where TCU and Baylor showed that unless you are Texas or Oklahoma you will not get the respect needed to play in the college football invitational.

Agree but it still comes down to whether Houston can/will make it attractive financially for him to make that kind of move. Long term guarantee (at least 5 years at a competitive salary) would probably be necessary.

Dana might wanna think twice about using a G5 school as a lifeline.

Think of Tommy Tuberville...

Houston is definitely a step down from WVU. Not a lateral move. WVU is also "the only
game in town" when it comes to big time CFB in WV. DH may have tired of the intense media spotlight in that small state. WVU is one of those programs that has come close to glory once or twice in its history under Don Nehen. Not convinced DH has done a poor job there given what he has to work with.

Not sorry to see Major get canned. Never liked the guy. The antithesis of a players coach if there ever was one.

Big 12 as a conference is weak. Difficulty competing nationally. OU and UT both have the talent but neither program has been able to do anything on the national stage. The CFP committee always cuts OU a break. This is true. However, no evidence that TCU or rape U have been treated unfairly since neither program has won the conference recently.

Baylor and TCU tied for the conference championship in 2014. That was part of the current era and fairly recent.

I've been told that Applewhite wouldn't have been let go unless Hulgerson or Orlando wasn't already in the bag.

He has a house in Houston and still spends a lot of time with the big Houston donors.
