2019 Recruiting

Post by PonyLawExpress »

Looks like we have 4-5 guys we are prioritizing/have a chance at for next season. 247 has inside content on these guy and I am not sharing any of that here, but this are how I would rank our targets. I am going to update this as the cycle continues and new names come up. Also, this can help us keep track of who we miss on...

1) CG 6'4 Tyson Jolly (JuCo)- COMMITTED to SMU- JuCoRecruiting ranks him the #11 JuCo player in the nation, played for TVCC. He averaged 22.6PPG 12.5RPG(led nation) and 4.0APG with a shooting split of 50/35/78. Played his freshman season at Baylor, but missed all of fall camp and the start of the season with blood clots. Reported offers from Wichita State, Oregon St, ECU as per 247. Plenty of other P5 interest. From Oklahoma.

2) SG 6'4 Taz Sherman is ranked the #10 JuCo in the nation as per JuCoRecruiting, played for CCCC. He is from He averaged 25.9PPG 4.8RPG 4.8APG this season with a shooting split of 49/39/87. He has offers from Tech, WVU, Utah, Cincinnati, Okie State, Buffalo and ECU. From Missouri City, Texas.
Visited Utah already and https://twitter.com/Okaytazoo/status/11 ... 1062746118
3) CG 6'2 Darius McNeil is a Transfer (sit on play 2 played for Cal) from Texas. Averaged 11.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in his two seasons at Cal. Known as a sharpshooter. Shot 35% from 3. Had a bunch of schools reach out including Oklahoma St and Cincy, but has set up visits to TCU & SMU.
https://twitter.com/Aaron_Torres/status ... 8800577536
4) SG 6'2 Keishawn Brewton is the #22 ranked JuCo in the nation as per JuCoRecruiting, played for Chipola. He averaged 19.4 PPG 4.0RPG 2.3APG on a shooting split of 48/46/72. Offer list on 247.
5) SG 6'5 Jonah Antonio-COMMITTED to UNLV JuCo prospect. Averaged 11.6PPG 4.5RPG and 1.9APG with a shooting spilt of 43/40/71, played for South Plains. Was a transfer from Mount Saint Mary's. Has offers and a top 3 of Seton Hall, SMU, and UNLV. JuCoAdvocate said he is definitely a specialist, but is a REALLY good specialist. https://twitter.com/jonah__antonio/stat ... 7808752642

There are a few HS-Seniors we seem to be looking at, but don't seem to be in a great spot for.

Kind of interesting that we haven't had a true point guard since Nic. We keep recruiting combo guards and sliding one of them over.

Three JUCO guards coming in would solve a lot of our problems. Jolly, Sherman, and the current JUCO commit all have good length and are proven 3 point shooters. We haven't had the ability to stretch the floor like that the last two years.

Because Jank is sabotaging the one legitimately cool thing weΓÇÖve had in athletics over the past quarter century? HeΓÇÖs not a good coach, he doesnΓÇÖt recruit, and heΓÇÖs a [deleted] off the court who constantly whines, makes excuses, and snaps at reporters who ask him legitimate questions about his job status. He does nothing to instill any confidence whatsoever about the future of the program. HeΓÇÖs a loser.

Get over the damn hate thing/word. So tired of those Who disagree always calling people they don't agree with haters. I don't hate Jank.. I strongly dislike the way he does his job. I doubt ECP hates Jank either. But i am fairly certain he loathes his job performance. This country and the babbling nut jobs who take everything too literally or get offended like mommy's little boy need to grow a pair. This country is in big trouble and I for one have had it with the throwing around of hate, me too, you're a racist, and all the other total crap heard daily on certain tv stations and newspapers. I'm done now. Soapbox to be returned.

Anyone thatΓÇÖs still asking why you dislike Jank at this point is clearly clueless. You donΓÇÖt owe an explanation ECM. Odds are theyΓÇÖve already heard it and havenΓÇÖt grasped it by now and wonΓÇÖt as long as heΓÇÖs here. These are the same people that supported June until the day Chad was hired.

My big question: Was it reasonable to expect the AD - or someone - to vet Jank with the idea of learning his feelings about recruiting and traveling as a part of the process?

I understand that the DIV I season involves a lot of night work and travel but doesn't that leave over half the year to do something besides stay home and watch TV?

Or was it expected that an assistant would handle that?

In fairness there is no such thing as a legitimate question posed to a coach about his job status. That's a chicken-**** ploy by journalists to provoke a reaction. There are no good answers to the question, I hate it when they waste our time with that nonsense. There is already very little that a coach is going to say (hence the term "coach speak") but asking about his job security is infantile. Ask his boss.
