8-0 Ponies going into Memphis. What besides many prayers from above would it take for SMU to somehow make the 4 playoff teams?

0% chance of playoff. Cotton Bowl Jerryworld is a very real possibility though and would be hero level.

The lightning strikes could be at any random series of times.

Eh super improbable but not impossible. If Alabama loses to Auburn and Championship. Ohio state loses twice. Clemson loses 1 and ND losing once in the next few games could do it.

Nevertheless, the mission now is going as underdogs (probably +10 spread) against Memphis.

Before the Houston game I saw betting odds of SMU in the CFB playoffs at 1/20.
Now? Gotta see what the others do.

Honeslty, I'd give us about a 1% chance at this point, but, yeah, we have to beat Memphis first.

About the same odds as coming back from 21 down in the 4th quarter and pulling out a win.

Agree. Will be one heck of an accomplishment to finish as the highest ranked G5 team. The bubble could burst next Saturday in Memphis. That team looked very impressive last week vs Tulane.
