Post-DP players that could start for Pony Express
1) Thomas Morstead - truly special, HOF-worthy??????
2) Courtland Sutton
3) Emmanuel Sanders
thatΓÇÖs it*
*for those who say James Proche or Cole Beasley, I say CS & ES beat them out for starting spots.

Josh LeRibeous at guard was a beast and would really have a big impact on that running game.

Remember that the question was "who could start." I just rewatched SMU-Aggy 1982 from Texas Stadium, and the announced starters were Dickerson and a fullback whose named I had forgotten, not Dickerson and James.
Here's the game, by the way; whoever posted it got really confused about what they had posted in what order, but you can see basically the whole game despite that:

Probably a lot at fullback. Maybe run some power I with all of them in.
May the forth be with us.
Re: Post-DP players that could start for Pony Express
Morestead might not have started. Craig James was the punter and he was adequate and he could take off and get a first down or take it to the house like he did in the Holiday Bowl.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Post-DP players that could start for Pony Express
Who were the CBs? Maybe Kevin Garrett and Jonas Rutledge.
Re: Post-DP players that could start for Pony Express
Before a gimmick like running ability, I want a punter who can punt. Many of James' punts were line drives that added yards on bounces. Morstead launched them into orbit. He is the best punter in school history and it's a 1 horse race.

Nice players, but not over Rod Jones and Russell Carter.
Go PONIES!

Zach could have spelled Jerry Kovar.... 37 played offense and defense, and was a cramp machine.
stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse

Zach Line would have competed with Charles Drayton for the FB job but let's remember that Drayton went on to play in the NFL as well

It was actually Kovar mentioned above in another post who was listed as the starter in that '82 game. Was Drayton a different year?
