Does Preston Stone Start as a Freshman?
What's the plan there?
Re: Does Preston Stone Start as a Freshman?
1. If Buechele comes back, he starts ΓÇö obviously.
2. What say we get Stone enrolled before charting out the path to the starting lineup, huh?

Buechele is not coming back.
I don't think there's a plan, in the sense that our HC and OC have already decided that Preston starts in year one. But I don't think that's your real question.
Do I think he'll show so well in camp and in practices that he grabs the reign in year one? I'd say probably, maybe halfway through the season.

Re: Does Preston Stone Start as a Freshman?
Our HC has shown that the best player starts, period. If Preston Stone comes in and is the best player at the position, he will start, regardless of if he is a Freshman.
I think Gipson has mobility and a great arm. Nobody knows if he can read a defense or not. I suspect that will determine a lot. I love the idea of Preston Stone, but I really hope that Gipson wins the job because of the enormous amount of work he has put in.

Gipson was also a highly rated QB and have a few years in the system. 4* or not, I donΓÇÖt love starting true freshman QBs. So I hope Gipson wins out.

How are you sure that Buechele is done? He won't be out of eligibility, just curious if he's made a definitive statement.

Shane is absolutely coming back. Why wouldn't he?

Was wondering today what the draft positions would be if Shane and Ellinger both finished up this year.

I was kind of wondering if UT wants a "do-over" and choose Shane over Sam...
Not trading Shane...he was a leader AND a calming force after RR went out. Not his best game, but he led a hobbled offense to the critical score.
We won...and tomorrow when you wake up, you'll realize it wasn't a dream!

Definitely not an absolute. Shane has NFL aspirations and rightfully so. I donΓÇÖt expect Our tight end back either, and up until yesterday - definitely didnΓÇÖt expect Roberson back but his injury may have changed things.
