Oklahoma true freshman quarterback Chandler Morris announced Thursday that he is leaving the program.
Morris, an ESPN 300 recruit who was the seventh-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2020 class, revealed the news on Twitter.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Morris is the son of Auburn offensive coordinator and former Arkansas head coach Chad Morris.
Chandler Morris, who attended Dallas' Highland Park High School, appeared in five games this season as a reserve for the Sooners, logging five pass attempts.
Morris also scored two rushing touchdowns on five attempts, including a first-half touchdown run during Oklahoma's Big 12 championship game win over Iowa State on Dec. 19.
Morris is the second Oklahoma quarterback to leave the program this month. Tanner Mordecai, who served as the backup quarterback the past two seasons, recently transferred to SMU. The departure of Mordecai and Morris leaves the Sooners with two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in 2021: Spencer Rattler and incoming freshman Caleb Williams.

Why do I get the feeling he will transfer to whatever school Dad works for next? Either that, or some place he will at least have an opportunity to compete for the starting job. Never quite understood the OU decision
Re: Chad Morris son leaving Oklahoma
Can we swap him for Tanner Mordecai? He looked like a baller in limited time at OU, Tanner looked more like Ben Hicks
Re: Chad Morris son leaving Oklahoma
So the guy who hands off at the end of 45-point blowouts is preferable to a guy who resembles the guy that owns just about every record at SMU? I recognize that it somehow became fashionable to bash Hicks because of some bad interceptions, but at some point we have to acknowledge that he also did some things right. Maybe Little Morris is better than Mordecai, maybe not. I say the Oklahoma coaches ate the only ones who have seen enough of both to weigh in.

Re: Chad Morris son leaving Oklahoma
Will he get an offer to serve as an analyst just as Sonny did? Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Re: Chad Morris son leaving Oklahoma
Chad Morris was just as bad if not worse for SMU than June Jones. To have his son choose TCU of all schools? Good riddance to that clown!

Re: Chad Morris son leaving Oklahoma
We can't get too mad at Chad's family member for going to TCU: SMU alumni made it clear that we don't care for Chad.
We all agree that we're very lucky to have Sonny - I don't hear any complaints about Sonny. But most of us saw Chad as a used car salesman, and I think that it's fair that the Arkansas and Auburn alumni join us.
It's safe to say that Chad knows that he isn't welcome at SMU, Arkansas, or Auburn.
