Multiple college football sources confirmed to FootballScoop Saturday that Fleck, Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott and SMU head coach Sonny Dykes are among those coaches being vetted for the Tennessee job. At least one of those coaches and his agent have reached out to gauge interest of assistant coaches around the country in a potential opportunity to join a staff on Rocky Top.

That sounds like Tony Elliott would be the one to gauge interest in assistants across the country. I hope that is the direction they go. We need Sonny to stick around.
Hard to condemn him if he takes it. A premier job. But if he still has a nasty taste in his mouth from the unrealistic U Cal expectations he will be wary of Rockytop. They're a whole 'nother level of delusional.
ESPN's Chris Low shares that he believes Tony Elliott and Sonny Dykes are candidates to watch for Tennessee head coaching search during an appearance on @3HL1045 in Nashville.
My concern is that they're looking at a throw away coach. Sonny isn't a popular choice but, if they get hit with big sanctions as the are expecting, they don't want to lose their dream coach. Having Sonny as the fall guy for a few bad years and to keep the program going then dump him and hire their Saban after penalties are over might be a long term plan.

Agreed, the longer this goes on, the more concerned I get! And if teams like Tennessee are looking at Sonny with 7 wins what's going to happen if we improve?
Former Pac-12 Head Coach Reportedly ΓÇÿHighΓÇÖ On TennesseeΓÇÖs List
During an appearance on 104.5 in Nashville on Monday, ESPNΓÇÖs Chris Low indicated the interest in Dykes is legitimate on TennesseeΓÇÖs part.
ΓÇ£I think Sonny Dykes is high on TennesseeΓÇÖs list,ΓÇ¥ Low said, via 247Sports. ΓÇ£HeΓÇÖs a bit of a niche offensive guy. His offenses have had a lot of success. He coached in the Power Five. DidnΓÇÖt have a lot of success at Cal. He had one decent year there. He had some success at Louisiana Tech. I think, when you look at SMU, heΓÇÖs sort of helped turn that program around. I think they won 10 games two years ago, which is the most theyΓÇÖve won there since 1984.
ΓÇ£I think heΓÇÖs a guy that Tennessee is going to look at pretty hard. IΓÇÖm not saying heΓÇÖs going to get the job, but heΓÇÖs certainly in the mix.ΓÇ¥
