Tom Herman should be our next Head Coach!!!

Tom Herman is an offensive minded head coach who has consistently won @ every stop including Texas & U of H!! He had Rashaad Samples on his staff @ UT & would smartly retain him as SMU Assistant Head Coach & Lead Recruiter on his staff which is super critical to continue the key Born & Raised recruiting efforts to stack the roster with more super talented local DFW HS players & transfers...It will totally suck if Sonny leaves SMU for our hated rival TCWho in Fort Worth but in my opinion that would mean that he doesn't have the necessary patience or desire to lead us to our full sustained potential (Power 5 Conference, new FB Operations Center, & consistently winning Conference Titles in a Packed/Expanded Ford Stadium) & likewise doesn't have the loyalty & devotion to SMU like we Alums & Letterman have so if he doesn't want to be here in Dallas & would rather be a purple Horny Frog then it's best that he get to stepping & exit the Hilltop sooner rather than later b/c our slow starts and/or poor play against U of H, Memphis, & Cincy shows that his contract situation has been a distraction to the players!!! Pony UP forever!!!!! On a side note-The Battle for the Iron Skillet will now be even more heated/intense & a must-see sold out rivalry game for the forseeable future due to the treason likely felt by SMU fans like me!!!

Herman and Patterson both seem like jerks, but have good HC win/loss records.

If we win, I wouldn't mind having a coach that lacks people skills.

Herman would do well. Probably have some problems interfacing with the admin. etc. as they prefer 'golf clap' coaches and fans instead of 'in your face' winning coaches.

1) Herman burned a lot of recruiting capital while at UT. He doesn't play as well in the recruiting circles as he did when he was with UH.

2) He absolutely trashed SMU while at UH. I get that it is a bit, but it would make him look two faced to come here, and that again would not play well with recruits, who need to trust the CEO.

3) He is an [deleted] and doesn't represent the morals of our university. It would be an awful culture fit.

I would be happy with Patterson. Big name coach that would not bolt to another offer as long as we paid him. I could see him staying at SMU until he retires. I imagine he would be able to maintain most of our recruits while bringing a few of his own with him.

I say we give it a shot. Plus it would be a big FU to TCU if he does well here and Sonny struggles at TCU.

How can you justify #2 without including Sonny to be of the same ilk?

agree- plus IMO we could get GP at a good price since tc-who will be paying him for his buyout- how ironic and funny would that be.
