Deion Sanders made a splash on the field in leading Jackson State to an 11-2 season and its first league title since 2007. The Tigers averaged more than 42,000 fans at home games, an FCS record. Sanders then brought in the nationΓÇÖs top recruit, Travis Hunter, who is set to play both cornerback and wide receiver ΓÇö just like his coach.

It's the novelty of a celebrity coach. If they continue to win, they'll maintain decent crowds. If not, that novelty will wear off.

42K isn't as crazy as is sounds. The Southern Heritage Classic, an annual meeting between Jackson State and Tenn State in Memphis, has been packing the 58,000 seat Liberty Bowl Stadium since 1990.

Wrong. They've always brought in great crowds. It has nothing to do w/Sanders.
