Cole Beasley retires from NFL
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/347 ... fl-seasons
"For a young man that came out of SMU that not one all-star game invited to play in, who prepared for his pro day working out by himself on campus and who 31 other teams in the NFL passed on as an undrafted free agent with only the Dallas Cowboys offering him a contract -- he has had an incredible career," (agent Joel) Turner said. "We could not be prouder of him in every facet and appreciate each organization that he played for and allowed him to live the American dream. Cole always gave it his all."

Overachiever from the day he stepped on the field at SMU. I remember him quitting Cowboys' training camp only to return after seeing his buddies he graduated with working the daily grind for a lot less money and his then being motivated to give football another try

Money talks. Not sure what he was paid for his brief stint in Tampa Bay but he did have one catch last week.

He has had a nice NFL career. It's better to retire early than risk injuries like Tua received. I think its3

Pretty big pay cut from the contract he left Dallas to play in Buffalo for

Did he get an actual diploma?
June Jones told him to get his butt back in training camp after he quit.

I hope Cole found that online degree plan he was pining for. It would be an awful shame if he had to set a foot on SMU campus again.

I got 18 [hours] and it's not like they transfer out anywhere else I don't wanna go back there and it's not cause they aren't good.

Re: Cole Beasley retires from NFL
My guess is Cole retired because some of the injured WR at Tampa will be coming back and he knew they were probably going to cut him, otherwise why would a WR walk away from playing with a legendary QB? Cole didn't want "cut" on his resume.

Re: Cole Beasley retires from NFL
I remember him dropping two passes in a row during the spring game that've might've been June's
first. Looked him up on the spring game program, and was surprised with his future success. Guess he was a frosh, or sophomore.

IIRC he came out of H.S. as a coach's son and QB but JJ recruited him as a WR. Obviously was a good move for him career wise
