Jasmine Smith Named AAC Co-Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – Jasmine Smith garnered Co-American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.

The Cypress, Texas native earned tournament MVP as the Mustangs won the Raising the B.A.R Invitational, hosted by California.

Smith averaged 17.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.7 blocks in wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (74-45) , Gardner-Webb (84-71) and Cal (70-56). Over the three games, she knocked down 19-of-33 (57.6%) field-goal attempts, including 6-of-10 from long range and converting 9-of-10 at the charity stripe.

She collected MVP honors at the Raising the B.A.R. Invitational, netting 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals against Gardner-Webb and Cal. Smith shot 61.9% in the tournament, hitting 13-of-21 from the field, including 4-of-5 from deep and added 4-of-5 at the free-throw line.

Smith and the Mustangs host North Texas at Moody Coliseum on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
