Mustangs up 27-15 12 minutes in and doing this with great defense and a very effective transition offense. Holding a very good shooting Utah State team to 31% FGs and only 25% from three while we are converting 66% on the other end

Guys came out of the under 4 tie out with great defensive intensity again and back up 8 points as a result of some steals and transition buckets

I haven’t seen much basketball this year and what I’ve seen hasn’t been good. But, at least for one half, this team is showing some heart, good D, and outside of the T, some really good and smart play. #PonyUp

This just looks like a completely different team coming out of exams as they are playing really intense D that is leading to transition buckets. Before exams, the vast majority of minutes were going to 7 guys and now Ambrose-Hylton and Koulibaly have stepped up and depth is much improved. If this team can run 9-10 deep and continue playing defense at this level, they just might be competitive in AAC play. Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised but the guys looked fatigued when Utah State made their run. I really think that's the key, i.e., coach needs to run a 9-10 man rotation if they are going to play tenacious defense for 40 minutes or more

SMU took 6 fewer shots than Utah State but shot 57% vs Utah State's 31%. Our guys hit 50% of only 6 threes while Utah State shot 25% on 20 3 point attempts! SMU with 9 assists and only 4 turnovers tonight and took Utah State out of their press early throwing it over the top and getting easy buckets. Fun 1st half. Hopefully our guys can sustain this level of play and continue to guard the perimeter well

This game has the feel of last night's game but this time SMU has lead most of the way with Utah State hanging around and refusing to be put away. Hope our guys can find the energy to finish as Utah State is looking better and killing us with 12 offensive boards, the result of 17 missed threes

Utah State has taken 10 more shots than our guys but still hitting only 24% of 25 three attempts. Their 13 offensive boards are keeping it close. Three guys in double figures for the Mustangs with Phelps at 12 and Todorovic and Odigie with 10 each
