Beat OU and go undefeated
I'm totally serious IF we can beat OU in Norman, we will go undefeated this season, with the extreme talent on this team.

Possibly, but winning in Norman is a challenging task. Think of the depth UO has.
Scary creepy place to play. I was at the 85 game. A nightmare. Goons had a subpar
season last year. Do not expect that to continue. Their program is loaded.

Agree. And let's not forget the Froggies in Fort Worth. No easy task there.

I am having the same thoughts. The personnel on this team has been seriously upgraded.
Beat ou and tcu we are desired.
See you on the boulevard!

Unfortunately after us, OU has Tulsa (an in-state game, but not a rivalry for OU). So, not a trap game for them. So, I expect to see them ready for us. I have this as a win, simply because we could jump out to an early lead.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Beat OU and go undefeated
As much as I hate the Froggies, and as much as I am with those who anticipate a significant drop-off in Fort Worth, they did sneak in to the national championship game last year. To suggest that Oklahoma is all that stands between us and an undefeated season is ridiculous.

I was at the '85 game. As I recall there was snow on the ground between Dallas and Norman. I also recall that we methodically took the opening drive downfield for a 7-0 lead. 4 turnovers later we had lost 35-13.

Re: Beat OU and go undefeated
In the post death penalty era, nobody would give us a chance of going 4-0 with this non-conference schedule and I'm sure we will be underdogs in both Norman and Ft Worth. In the past, winning in Norman would be a much bigger deal than winning in Ft Worth. After last year, maybe not so much? I'd be thrilled if our guys could win both but would be pleased if we can win at least one of those games as winning either of these road games would get some attention on a national level.

I am as excited about the transfers as the next guy, but my Battered Pony Syndrome senses are tingling...
Let's wait until this team proves to us "this time it's different" before we start talking about beating OU and going undefeated.
The last time we won our conference? 1984
The last time we won a bowl game? 2012
The last time I wasn't disappointed by SMU athletics? Never (class of '09)
Love the excitement, but you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Hope I am wrong.

Re: Beat OU and go undefeated
I get what you are saying but this is the first time since the 80's that smu has been able to be smu. Yes, we are a small school with academic standards and that makes recruiting harder. Adidas and others helped in the 80's when smu was really, a progressive, forward thinker.
Are we going to go 12 and 0, I don't know but I am hoping. Get rid of the battered pony syndrome. What we did back in the day has now become legal. We will rise and shine and become a leader.

Lets make sure we take care of LA Tech before we start planning on beating OU.

I am still a focus on this week guy. We can lose to any team.
But the players are now on the team for us to beat good teams.

In the past I would have hoped we go 2-2 with this non-conference schedule. Now, 2-2 would be ok, but really we should go 3-1 and am hopeful we go 4-0. That's how far we've come with our talent upgrade. It's now up to Lashlee and the coaching staff to make it all click.

I get what you are saying xc, but it is up to Lashlee and the coaches to get the players where they need to be. Then it is up to the players alone.
The players execute what they have been prepared for...the 6 "P" principle. After the first snap, it is about the fellas on the field.
It is time for this to happen.
