Three Days to the Duke Circus

Post by Dukie »

This will be fun. I have Duke friends in Austin begging for tickets. I hope the students are back, but regardless, the atmosphere will be very Godfather-era. When is the last time a top-five team came to Moody? The only possible candidates over the last 15 years I can think of would be UH, Louisville, Memphis--maybe UConn?

A co-worker offered me $200 apiece for mine.
I thought about it, but not for long.
See you Saturday. Beat Duke!

I'm trying to grab two for friends. Prices are dropping rapidly on the open market. So looking good.

Cincy came in town ranked 7th back in Feb 2014 and we blew them out. I was there.

Louisville came in about a month later at #11 and they beat us. Rick Pitino. That was a circus!!!

That was a great team!! If they had not lost to Houston in the first round of the AAC tourney they would have gone to the NCAA tournament (but they should have gone anyway). But they had to settle for the NIT and they lost the championship game to Minn, coached by Pitino Jr.

What was the last sellout? In spring 2022, the game vs. UH had 5247 (Weathers bros had 37 points and Kendric had 22) and Memphis had 5657. The UH home game in 2023 had 6278. The A&M game last year had 6852 but was also much lower priced than this Duke game.

Great job by SMU of pricing individual tickets at a high price and letting organic demand sell it out. "Great deal" tickets available at $238 apiece in section 211 row 6. Nice seats. Fees are merely $83 per ticket for a total of $321 per ticket. Those just sold.

Now, with fees in SeatGeek, two available for $185 each in Section 207 row 15 (top row is 17). Next is $208 (section 208, row 17) and then $225 (section 209A, row 14).

Silly question: where are these standing room only tickets I see advertised? That club section?

The SRO ad on Facebook was from 12/11. Those are now sold out. SRO tickets tend to be just inside the arena on the north side in that alcove above the band. Better than sitting in the top corner.

From AI: Standing room only (SRO) tickets at Moody Coliseum at SMU are typically located at the back of the seated sections on both the upper and lower levels.

If they came on and said "SMU has beaten anybody and isn't any good" they wouldn't exactly grow the market for their podcast.

There is nobody at Duke saying "we'll kill Carolina, but how are we going to handle SMU?"

That might happen down the road someday, but not yet.

Actually, the Duke sentiment is mostly ΓÇ£we need Quad 1 opportunities because there are precious few in the ACC this year.ΓÇ¥ SMU is definitely one of those. TheyΓÇÖre aware the environment will be hostile and that Enfield is a very good offensive mind. And SMU is pretty far above Kerlina in the NET ratings, anyway.
