Just saw the note on the home page about Coach Sawyer being added to the staff full-time. Congratulations to him - he's earned it. He was basically a full-time coach when he was a G.A., anyway, so this is much-deserved.

Does Coach Sawyer have any recruiting duties?
The reason I ask is... Is he going to be able to go out and recruit DT's as THE DT coach. I would think that GA's do not carry a lot of power if they visit a recruit but that if your position coach made that visit, you were getting the straight skinny and were important.
His passion will shine through!

My guess is that Coach Sawyer will be assigned a recruiting area, like the other coaches. If there's a stud DT who wants to get to know him, surely contact will be made. But many times, when there's a stud recruit who's wavering, he will get a visit or call from the coordinator on his side of the ball (Coach Gush, in this case) or the head coach.
Just my guess, of course.
