And the trolls come out of the woodwork.
You can't possibly say that this North Texas team even remotely compares to Texas Tech, Texas A&M or Baylor.

Re: ESPN: June frontrunner for Hawaii HC
Yeah, because NOBODY had seen a Run-n-shoot offense before he took over at Hawaii.
The biggest issue he had with us was that he didn;t recruit. He actually gave a damn at UH and recruited there and it showed. The reason Georgia embarrassed their asses at the Sugar Bowl wasn't because the Bulldogs ...

Re: Comparing Chad Morris and June Jones' Inagural Seasons
LeRibeus was rated as a 3 star recruit and did pretty well and the center was on the Remington award watch list.. Bennett had given JJ a good offensive line to work with. When they all graduated things started to go downhill.

Re: I swear my last dig
It's easy/lazy to say JJ was 'inflexible' during his time here, but that was far from his biggest problem. He ran more with Line than he did at any other time during his coaching career and the offense looked a lot different (more horizontal, more two-back sets) when Mumme was here than it did the ...

Re: Tom Mason talks to media today
You can look at Mason's comments two ways:
1) All he's doing is parroting the same crap the Jones was because he's brainwashed/voodoo, blah blah blah
2) Now that two different people are saying the same thing, maybe there's something to it
Personally I'll go a little with 1, but more with 2 ...

The scheme works with the right OL and QB, however it's JJ's fault for not getting them to the Hilltop.
Seems like I've read that here before...

Re: Nebraska fires Bo Pelini
Nebraska is a tough gig because your in-state recruiting base is pretty weak...and nearby states like Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, and Missouri aren't exactly recruiting hotbeds either. And it's tough to convince a kid out in California to come to Lincoln for four years when he could go to USC, UCLA ...

When Nebraska won the national title in 1995, they beat four teams that finished in the top 10: Florida, Colorado, Kansas and Kansas State. Three Big 8 teams.

Re: Philosophical Question re Paul Johnson
Considering the option style of offense has been around since the late 60's, I don't think you can call it a, gimmick offense.
True, but it's in the category of the run and shoot of "ways to theoretically compete with lesser talent".
I want a coach who will line up in a spread or whatever and go ...

The problem was not the hiring. The problem was not firing him after the ASU fiasco. Would you agree with that IPP?
Yes Rebel10....now in hindsight I think that would have been best.
At the time after watching our success I did not support firing him then.
My thinking was...whoaa...I am enjoying ...

Re: Jones already "recharged"?
Who's to say the decision makers didn't do their due diligence? Sometimes things happen that are unforeseeable. How could someone possibly see that after four years, he would be offered a job by another school, have it rescinded, then essentially give up on the program? There was nothing in his ...
