Re: Mason Lovers Club

The next head coach should absolutely be one who has strong local ties, and excels at recruiting the DFW area.
I think that would eliminate anyone on the current staff.

Re: Turner speaks to Hashimoto/DMN about SMU athletics

How many times does Turner have to say we are going to compete at the highest level? Is Mike Hashimoto [deleted] stupid or was he just not listening?

Turner can say "we are going to compete at the highest level" as many times as he wants. It is complete BS. SMU football is nowhere near competing ...

Good Idea. Home and home for both basketball and football.

Re: OT - The new way to schedule

Another thing- I think a school like Mississippi State is one we should try to schedule in the future. .

Really? So what you are saying, is you want to replace a non conference, blowout loss to a local rival (Baylor, TCU, A&M, Tx Tech, take your pick), or a winnable non conf, game, with one ...

And for people who like to watch real college football and watch the players who are going to be playing on sundays in the next couple years.

And for college presidents who support their football programs.

Re: Traylon Shead

He's leaving for the pros. Good luck to traylon. Had a tough college career.
That is a terrible decision if true.

Really?
Although I don't see him as an impact pro player, why would he stay here?
He would be looking forward to a 4-8 season, playing for a team that does not want to run the ball ...

Re: First Practice Today

Phillips made an offer just days ago-as in Jan 19-20th. But I wouldn't be surprised if some coaches jump from sinking ship-that would be sure sign that June's "3 year extension" is a mirage

The "3 year extention mirage" is a great strategy for building a football program.
Good idea to skip a ...

Mustang Basketball at New Moody February 1, 6, and 8. Any word on a Hughes Trigg soiree for football? Bueller?

Well, with the way the gutless shills in our Athletic Department handled Junes extension, I would say expect something in the basement janitors closet and the announcement will be made ...

So would I, but unfortunately, none of these would show up here.
How about some up and comers with local recruiting tie ins?

Re: Could June Jones be a candidate for Vandy Job?

Gosh, I would hate to lose June Jones to Vanderbilt. He's done so much for the SMU program...but think about what he could do with a program with REAL resources. Vandy has a lot of money, no real "athletic director" JJ would have to report to, plays in a packed stadium most of the time, and winning ...

Get their resumes ready? Are you kidding me?
Hart and Turner are falling all over themselves to give these guys contract extensions.
If June threatens "leverage" again, they will give him another two years.

Re: Stop scheduling Big 12

(GASP !) I actually agree with FTHP. No, not for the reason he gave...

I think for OOC games we should start scheduling games where SMU has pockets of Alumni. It is a giant plus if they are also easy to get to from Dallas.

Good thinking. Let's start with Waco, Ft Worth, and Austin.

So 3 ...

Re: Mack Brown and his UT staff - Y or N?

i say hell yeah! the dude won a national title and has had UT at the top for years. and the man can recruit. he would bring instant credibility to SMU

I agree.
Although the timing might not be right for Mack to step down into this mess, quite yet. He is more or less what SMU needs . A very ...

Re: UCLA 41 Washington 31 Final

As for Maligi-if SMU wants to be national program its time to pay up. His home ground is DFW. I'd rather pour money into recruiting staff than an IPF any day of the week. Its not even close. Not my money but if you want to invest in SMU invest into recruiters like him.

If SMU wants to be a ...

He was. And I thought "just another hit and run" was an early Def Leppard song.

O.K either way.
