Re: Show me the money...Famous movies with SMU

A bunch of guys were in On Any Given Sunday. I know both Merc Hall and Tyree Taylor were shown in the film.

Re: Chad Morris --- Love seeing CM Blow a big lead

No argument that outside of beating SMU on the football field, Arkansas owned the 90s - so did Bill Clinton. But Nolan Richardson seems like such a long time ago - and don't forget that his recruits that won that championship were recruited into the Southwest Conference and not the $EC.

Sadly ...

Re: Has the Daily campus gone WAY downhill?

It has not gone way down, it's always been this bad. When my wife was teaching on campus, any time I visited and she wanted to shut me up, she would hand me a red pen and a DC.

Re: Good Luck the rest of the way

Thanks guys...I would be a little disappointed if you pulled for TCU to win out! Of course I hope you can find it in your hearts to pull for us against Baylor at a minimum.

I am rooting for Baylor to go 0-11 and then somehow produce a win against TCU in their final game, knocking the Frogs out of ...

Re: College decision time!

Barring a miracle, it looks like our daughter will be heading to Trinity. Wait listed at Colby and Brandies. Rejected at Wellesley, Bowdoin, Bates and Williams. Waiting on Harvard, Yale, and Dartmouth today. Stranger things have happened, but I am anticipating three more rejections. 96% on the SAT ...

Boston Bar to Watch SMU Saturday

I will be in Boston next Thursday through Sunday and am looking for a good place to watch the SMU game with my son. I looked for tickets, but the only areas where I could get two seats together was in the nosebleed sections so I decided to just go to a bar. My son is only 19, so any suggestions ...

Re: Sex assault scandal no deterrent to applicants at Baylor

I do not understand why it matters how many applications are sent. Does it hurt if you send too many? I was recruited so I do not know the answers but if I were applying I would send out as many as I could and then select from those that accepted.

That's kinda my thought too Myrdel. I applied to ...

Re: Sex assault scandal no deterrent to applicants at Baylor

Is the dream school Wellesley? Really hit the upper NE. Brandeis and Carlton are a bit of outliers. No Middlebury or Amherst. A lady worked for me that played softball at Bowdoin. Loved it of course. Kellogg MBA.

10+ apps is standard for high achievers considering out of state.

Yes, Wellesley ...

Re: Sex assault scandal no deterrent to applicants at Baylor

Applying to 11 schools is ridiculous . That is lack of parent control.

Thanks for the unsolicited parental critique. She is going into adulthood. If she wants to apply to 100 schools, I would let her because it's her decision and I will support that decision. There is no need to "control" her ...

Re: Sex assault scandal no deterrent to applicants at Baylor

Maybe the higher # of early applicants is part of a growing trend to apply to more schools and do it earlier in the year. Baylor's total apps dropped last year. We'll see if total apps and yield take a hit.

smudubs, is your daughter focused on Ivies? I remember her being similarly talented as ...

As a parent of a graduating senior, I can say, without question, that the scandal had an affect on us deciding to not have our daughter apply.

Re: DMN: Fliers 'Why white women shouldn't date black men'

If an SMU student is involved, I'll be surprised (and disappointed).
I would not be "surprised" at all. We have quite a diverse student body.

As someone who is "diverse," I can tell you that my experience at SMU wasn't all Wine and Roses. But, I never saw anything like that.

First, amen. As I ...

Re: Some band, students kneel during national anthem

There has to be more to the story, as that doesn't make any sense...

The rest of the story is that they were serving white customers and cooking food. When 30 young black men walked in, their fryer suddenly broke and they could not serve them. But there was no fryer problem before my son's 29 ...
