AAC AAC AAC - f the rest. Proving our metal. Glad we are in the conference and glad we have a team that is competing at the highest level.

SMU is the best team in the conference tied with Louisville. Next year it won't even be close!
We will pick up the slack for Louisville in our conference, so I am not worried. Not bad AAC...Not Bad. 8)

Theoretically, if temple and usf improve, and Tulsa can continue their momentum, next years aac will be as good or better than this years

I'm as big an SMU fan as anyone, but it's pretty generous to consider us "tied" when they beat us twice this season.

Now next year...

If Masiello goes to USF that would help them imo.

Losing a perennial top10-15 program and adding Tulsa doesn't really bring much national attention....... Net loss to the conference.

I agree. Two notable AAC accomplishments so far this year: two in the sweet 16 and 5 ranked in the top 25,at the same time.

Will either of those happen again soon?

this attitude mainly from the bandwagoners that we're the best needs to stop. yes, we've had some success (even though we didnt make the dance) but try to be humble and temper your expectations.

I'm not tempering expectations. A big issue with the SMU fan base is we are so unaccustomed to success that a large portion of the fan base is thankful for mediocre. June takes advantage of this and gets upset when he receives criticism for being incredibly mediocre. That needs to end as it breeds complacancy and leads to the program being mediocre.

I want more for SMU and LB wants more. LB wants to set a high bar for SMU as he is constantly talking about national championships. If you want to be the best, the first step is making that the stated goal and expecting to achieve it. I'll be realistic about SMU's chances but I expect us to be competing at the level where we could win a national championship because there is no reason for SMU not to be able to compete in basketball for a national championship. We have a great school, great facilities, and are surrounded by incredibly high high school basketball talent. If we can consistently get 3 of the top 25 basketball prospects from the metroplex alone to commit to play for SMU we will be a perennial tournament team and when those special players come through watch out. There are not that many other schools in the nation that can say that about the cities where they are located.

Losing Louisville hurts a lot; there is no way to sugarcoat that. But if Temple and UH get their act together, and Tulsa continues on the right track and doesn't take a step back playing tougher competition, then the AAC could be very entertaining next year and be a deeper conference as well. We lose the panache of Louisville, but there is a path forward to continue the AAC as one of the strongest BB conferences in the country, and perhaps make it stronger top to bottom.

i expect big things next year too, but we don't need to act cocky and talk as if we're already achieving things. sure, we have a nice class coming in and some great pieces, but still, anything can happen. who knows, we might get shafted again by the selection committee. anything can happen.

AAC teams are going to have to deliver some wins in non-conference next year - especially when somebody plays a "big time" school.

The ACC must have added Louisville to help the reputation of their conference in hoops. Lord knows they need the help.

Memphis versus Wichita State on a neutral court will be a big one.
