Harvey Armstrong was All- American, Carter wasn't and they were teammates most of their careers.

D-i-c-k Hightower isn't mentioned but should be at least in the discussion. He anchored the line opening holes for both Doak and Kyle.

Robert Popelka was also all american and is very high of interception list with lesser defenses around him than Carter (Russell)

I would consider Zach Line as well. Not only a great runner, but perhaps the best blocking back ever and he also contributed mightily on special teams.

John Lagrone was 3 time All SWC and All-American and Academic All American. And part of the '66 Cotton Bowl Team.

The last I would consider is Keylon Kincade. Twice all WAC and has the record for most rushing attempts in a season and in a game. He was the only thing we had for three seasons and paid a very heavy price for running without an offensive line, QB or receivers during that time.

My list, in no particular order, would include
Eric Dickerson
Doak Walker
Lance McIlhenney
Putt Choate
Forrest Gregg
Jim Krebs
Gene Phillips
Jeryl Sasser
Karlin Kennedy
Steve Lundquist
Schellas Hyndman
Daniel Hernandez
Kevin Grimes
Kara Lee
Alan Kirkup
Lars Frolander
Payne Stewart
Richey Reneberg
Harvey Armstrong
Janus Robberts
Libor Charfreitag
Ron Meyer
Ryan Berube
Martina Moravcova
Scott Donie
Dave Richards
Luchi Gonzalez

That's more than 25. I didn't major in math.
I know it says 25 greatest PLAYERS. I added coaches.

Oh ... Peruna.

If coaches, then Matty Bell andDoc Hayes should be considerations.
