Re: SMU working to renew Baylor, TCU seriesComparable season ticket sales for regional rivals:
TCU 2009: 13,000 2010: 19,500 2011: 22,500 2012: 30,000 2013: 31.636 http://www.frogsowar.com/2013/8/8/46013 ... -season-is Baylor 2013: 23,564 2012: 17,320 2011: 16,830 2010: 12,849 2009: 12,362 http://m.wacotrib.com/news/higher_educa ... l?mode=jqm SMU seems to be at around 10k right now after a 1-11 season. Notice TCU entered Big 12 in 2012. They jumped their ticket sales from 2009-2010 after the Fiesta Bowl year, while in Mountain West. Baylor sales jumped after RG3 gave em home in 2010.
Re: SMU working to renew Baylor, TCU series9300 to be more exact
Re: SMU working to renew Baylor, TCU seriesGoals:
2016: 12,000 2017: 16,000 2018: 20,000 SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: SMU working to renew Baylor, TCU seriesI understand Texas would play SMU in Austin, but will not schedule
a home & home with us now, so no deal.
Re: SMU working to renew Baylor, TCU seriesHopefully we find a way to make it happen every year (or most years if every year doesn't work).
The numbers for the three schools make the case even more compelling for an annual meeting for all three... TCU vs SMU: 48-40-7 (TCU) Baylor vs SMU: 38-36-7 (BU) Baylor vs TCU: 52-51-7 (BU) Instead of the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy it could be the Battle for the BMW Keys. I wouldn't mind seeing some hoops in Moody while we are at it.

The perfect OOC schedule is us versus every Texas P5 we can get. We should only play MWC or MAC teams in bowl games. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: SMU working to renew Baylor, TCU seriesWhy would SMU want to play a classless university with a classless coach like Fatterson, in an ugly city like fort worth on an ugly campus with [deleted] yellow brick buildings?
Re: SMU working to renew Baylor, TCU seriesWe are gluttons for punishment

Re: SMU working to renew Baylor, TCU seriesI'd like to see some consistency in order to build/rebuild some regional rivalry games that will draw interest from Metroplex fans (as opposed to die-hard PonyFans). Realizing that the quality of EVERY team ebbs and flows, our problem is that we scheduled the likes of TAMU, OSU and Baylor when they were middle of the road, and then by the time we played them, they were very good.
For out-of-conference, I'd like to see TCU, UNT and Baylor every year. UT would be on my wish list for the #4 spot, but they will never play us in D/FW as they have nothing to gain (to date, they have recruited D/FW better than we do) and everything to lose (status, bragging rights, etc.). If we could fill Ford with our own fans, a logical choice for a 4th team would be Rice, but that wouldn't bring us much besides a good chance of going 2-2 OOC. I hate TTech, and don't want them fouling up our nice stadium. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: SMU working to renew Baylor, TCU seriesGiven our West Coast Alumni Base, we need to schedule UCLA at the Rose Bowl or USC
We need to schedule UCLA in Basketball too
