An injunction kept him on the field for a few games although I don't think he finished the season. That was probably during Hayden Fry's time or Dave Smith's. I don't remember if the lawsuit was against the SWC or NCAA.

The player was a center and his first name might have been Mike and the family name Clark or Smith.

Anybody, team mate, or someone closer to the program then remember what I'm talking about?

Certainly I not suggesting any similarities between what happened then and our present problem. I hope that those who "know something" are right and that the penalty will be very much reduced.

It was Center Mike Smith in about 1974-he got a TRO issued in order to determine whether he would be likely to win on the merits but eventually lost after a preliminary hearing and was ruled ineligible. I think the NCAA later changed its rules to state that even if an individual appealed the school would commit an NCAA violation if they played such a player. Not sure on last part but that's my memory

He does seem to have a pretty remarkable batting average. I'll buy that man a beer...or 12.

I would guess the appeal will be for
1) post season
2) some smaller number of scholarship reduction (say 6 vs 9)

LB will begin his "sentence" with game number one.

Would love nothing better than to see MK play with a giant chip on his shoulder even bigger than the normal chip, with Nic and the others just flat our [deleted].

I would like to see this, think it would be at least partly successful. We are not cherubs here...mistakes were made and must be accounted for. Just has to be fair and reasonable.
