Re: Doak WalkerI know he was multi-dimensional, but did Doak Walker ever play QB for either HP or SMU?
Re: Doak Walker
He played most things for SMU. Leader of the Band-itos.

Re: Doak WalkerI ask because I was told a great trivia question once.
In their storied histories, SMU and UT have only played each other twice when both teams were undefeated entering into the game (1947 & 1983). Besides this fact, what else did both games have in common? Answer.......all 4 starting QBs were HP grads. Bobby Lane, Doak Walker, Lance McIlhenny & Rob Moerschell. Re: Doak Walker
Bobby Layne was the QB GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Doak Walker
Understood, but if Doak QB'd SMU that day, the trivia question would still hold.
Re: Doak Walkerdoak mainly played in the single or double wing at smu which doesn't use a conventional qb.
Re: Doak WalkerGil Johnson was the QB for SMU in 1947 Championship team. The RB sometimes threw passes in those days. Doak did play some QB too-he was 26 for 46 for 304 as a passer his Heisman year in 1948

Ever take a picture of glass in a dark place with a flash?
Re: Doak Walkerqb was also known as the fullback in the single wing.
Re: Doak WalkerGreat stories. Thanks for sharing.
Re: Doak WalkerDoak did not have any P5 offers. He was admitted to SMU when a member of the staff took and passed one of his high school courses. True story.
