Phillips arrival was the beginning of the end for JJ. Such a poor communicator and motivator. His reputation was only exceeded by JJ's as an offensive genius.....both were legendary in their own minds only. Anyone remember Dieter as the only receiver who could get open and catch in his first game as a true freshman against Baylor? Would have been nice to see Courtland at one wideout and Dieter the other!

Yeah, but at least he was an awesome recruiter and landed Zelt Minor. 8)

Interesting to say the least.. DD has good "Big" and strong hands. While not a speedster, he does have good ups. I do recall the game in Tulane .. DD started and could not get separation nor open ... Coach Phillips stayed all over him ... things went down hill from there. DD is a good kid, I wish him well .... he is defiantly a legend in his parents eyes.

You guys may be sick of hearing about this kid, but worth noting that he caught a 45 yard touchdown vs USC. So not just riding the bench.

I'm not. Good for him. Still get mad thinking about Junesus burning his redshirt in early September against Baylor and then basically not playing him again.

Didn't everyone from Alabama score on USC?

The kid did not just score, he started and played all the snaps. With the exception of; certain play/packages, and when the game was out of hand.

Dieter was such an obviously promising player...how that situation played out should have caused great concern with our AD...like June and Phillips in my office explaining in detail what lead up to his decision to transfer...from outside it concerned him not. Dieter was indeed the only one who could get open and catch the ball against Baylor; it is a shame he didn't stick here. Good for him though...he earned himself a great situation
