WonΓÇÖt matter as long as the Master Excuse Maker is at the helm. Jank is the basketball coaching equivalent of a blocked punt.
He was 30-5 with top talent.
The challenge is that he isn't bringing in that same level of talent. We aren't bad by any stretch of the imagination. But we won't ever get the talent to go 30-5 with him running the show. And your relationship with the students and alumni matters.
It's also reasonable to conclude that those players were disciplined under Larry Brown for several years and along with their talent excelled under a coach that gave them more flexibility. The same flexibility is not as helpful when the players are not as talented or as disciplined.
Talent formally coached and trained by LB. How about his results recently? 2 out of 3 years a losing record.
excusa-vich does not belong here nor does he belong coaching at the D1 level. he is much happier just playing his guitar. sadly, nobody cares enough about mens bball to do anything about making a change, even with just one year left on his contract. mediocrity at its best.
WeΓÇÖve got a real nice little negative advertisement program going here for potential transfers. Fire Jank and Mass Exodus. I wish some of you would think of something beyond the confines of your little whiny worlds before posting.
The writing has been on the wall for the last few seasons. That said, our fanbase does not support the program to the extent necessary to attract a can't miss candidate so if we are not willing to pay top dollar and go after the best we might as well hang on to Jankovich another season. Expectations are part of the job and it is not the fault of our fanbase that we have not met them. If Jankovich did more to improve recruiting, he would quell many of the calls for change.
