Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionMentions SMU prominently...
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionWhile the ACC is currently 3rd on the revenue list, you have to give the Big XII credit for being aggressive in expansion and they may well eventually land the remaining 4 corner schools to strengthen that conference further. I've always liked the idea of performance based revenue distribution which is at least a start for the ACC, but even with that, the top programs in the ACC will not approach what SEC and Big 10 schools are raking in.
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionSeveral ACC schools make sense, as far as matchups: Miami, Syracuse, Boston College, Wake Forest, etc.
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansion
Almost a joke. U are anti pac to the extreme. Yormark is a moron. Long term the little 14 will fail. Purchased your tix for our epic matchup with ecu?
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansion
As someone who has always lived in the central and eastern time zones, I will readily confess that I did not like being in the WAC and I'm not overly excited about joining the PAC in today's environment knowing the Big 10 could pick off Oregon and Washington (and any other PAC team for that matter) any time they want to. You are in denial if you don't think there is an east coast bias in college football and I'm not real excited about trading our spot in the AAC for what could become an expanded MWC. You can call the Big XII commish whatever you'd like but I sure hope the PAC is able to keep it's remaining 9 schools together and that "moron" isn't able to destroy the PAC which is clearly his goal.
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionRumor is Florida St and Miami would leave the ACC for the B1G. So makes sense why they say SMU to the ACC.

Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansion
There are lots of credible rumors but this is not one. The B1G has never admitted a non-AAU member and they aren’t going to start with FSU.
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansion
I always thought the B1G would go after Virginia and UNC (with Ga Tech and Miami a couple of additional possibilities) if they ever decided to raid the ACC. Clemson and FSU are better SEC candidates. Of course, if the USC/UCLA move works out well, Oregon & Washington would seem to be the no-brainer "next" expansion moves for the B1G. All are AAU members
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionLiving in ACC territory, the UVA - UNC to B1G makes sense. They have a long history with Maryland. They would then blanket the DC area. UVA and UNC would up their hoops brand. Clemson/FSU to SEC makes sense as well. Their cultures are similar.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionMaybe so, but how much does hoops matter? I keep remembering, during the last realignment shift, Bill Self talked about Kansas being a program without a direction, "because basketball doesn't matter."
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionsomewhat confusing. the ACC commissioner says they would only be interested in schools that add significant value etc. And then at the top of their list is WVU? hardly a bastion of education and not in keeping with the likes of a Clemson or FSU when is comes to sports.
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionWest Virginia would be a really weird fit. But that would be true almost anywhere. Culturally, it fits the Big 12, I guess, but it's so far removed geographically that it's an awkward fit there, too.
Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionWVU has begged to join the ACC for years. Maryland used to blackball them along with the former BE schools who hate them. I don’t see an ACC invite in their future. In Virginia, instead of Aggie and Oakie jokes, people tell WVA jokes.

Re: ACC commish: conference open to expansionJust did a quick tour of various ACC expansion sites and was surprised to see SMU continually mentioned and positively in most cases. I have always understood SMUs value, largely do to our location. Its nice to see others value what SMU can offer.
I did not think the ACC was in play, but the chatter seems to indicate that they might be. Few have mentioned Notre Dame - Are they still affiliated with the ACC and stubbornly clinging to their FB independence? Getting them all in could be a game changer. Though, Big 10 seems to make more sense for them in that scenario. I assume the SMU play means additional TV dollars, along with all the other benefits of being in Dallas and Texas. WVU is another mentioned. Don't really get the appeal there, other than the historical connection. Maybe they are just tired of being on the island alone. The addition of UC and UCF to the Big 12 seems to address that concern. Just searching for anything to give me hope, as the PAC12 thing continues to look less viable with every day that passes. "Once the number 3, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."
