It was interesting that at the official announcement, head coach Rhett Lashlee seemed to make a point to say something like "SMU is the only Div. I program in Dallas, the only program in the Metroplex in a top-three conference." Didn't seem like it was said by accident.

Give me Dallas, Raleigh, Tallahassee, Miami, Northeast etc. any day! I cannot wait to see how this impacts (+) our recruiting and devastates our former SWC mates. They have to be scared to death that the sleeping giant is now wide awake!
but, but, but Fort Worth is in the "Dallas area" isn't it?
Tech, tcu and baylor truly proved to us the superiority of big # conference football by losing to massive underdogs the opening game of the season! As their posters have been saying, we don't belong in a conference with them. At least they got that right.
"I don't think it's our year, but I'm not yet worried that we can't outclass Houston, SMU, WVU, Iowa State, BYU, and two or three of K-State, Tech, Baylor, Texas, and Oklahoma"

That is exactly what you are now selling.
It's funny because it will get under the skin of the Big 12 teams. Also, basically true, since unlike the ACC, SEC, and B10 of 2024, the Big 12 will have had 0 football championships in the last decade or even the BCS/CFP era, and only 3 championships since the inception of college football (TCU - 1938; BYU - 1984; Colorado - 1990) compared to dozens for each of the ACC, SEC, and B10.
