SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Re: The SMU case for the CFP
If every Big 10 and SEC teams lost every game from here until the end of conference championship games and SMU went undefeated and lost to Miami, SMU would be out.
The NCAA has set up a beauty pageant with self selected judges with the goal of the highest ratings on TV. Not the best teams. Anyone remember when SMU was 10-1 and was highly rank (1983)? Yes, unranked 4 loss Michigan was invited to the Sugar Bowl and SMU ended up in El Paso. Why? Ratings.
We have to win out period. Then the NCAA can 't screw us.

I agree. It's pointless to even consider any other scenario.ponyte wrote:If every Big 10 and SEC teams lost every game from here until the end of conference championship games and SMU went undefeated and lost to Miami, SMU would be out.

Also, maybe we should start paying a bunch of random people to watch SMU games on TV.

Every single ESPN prognosticator has SMU in the playoff field this morning, win or lose in Charlotte (and theyΓÇÖre projecting a Cal win of course):

Where are you seeing that they are projecting a Cal win? That doesn't seem likely. We still have a lot of motivation to win the next game.Dukie wrote:Every single ESPN prognosticator has SMU in the playoff field this morning, win or lose in Charlotte (and theyΓÇÖre projecting a Cal win of course):

Re: The SMU case for the CFP
It doesn't help that BYU has now lost 2 games but any "expert" who takes a closer look at SMU's season would see that our early season struggles were BEFORE Lashlee made the decision to go with Kevin Jennings and it's pretty obvious what that change has done for this team. Our depth is definitely being tested this time of year but that is the case with a lot of teams right now. That's what makes this winning streak that much more impressive.

I think the committee also knows that if we were to play them now, we would be heavily favored. We are a completely different team now.Charleston Pony wrote:It doesn't help that BYU has now lost 2 games but any "expert" who takes a closer look at SMU's season would see that our early season struggles were BEFORE Lashlee made the decision to go with Kevin Jennings and it's pretty obvious what that change has done for this team. Right. We lose to Cal then zero chance of an at-large bid.highlander wrote:oh that makes more sense.dalpony wrote:I believe Dukie means they are assuming that we will have a a win against Cal -
