RB room will be interesting next year with a mix of young guys and veterans trying to come back from injuries. One thing for certain is that depth is very much a necessity as is rebuilding the OL with the same mix of youngsters and veterans. Looks like this staff is right on target so far as we wait to hear about backfilling the DL losses

I am just amazed how well we do in the portal. I look forward to the completed class.

Turns out he has a little speed (broke Florida 3A state record with a 20.40 in the 200m) :D

https://x.com/Andrew_Ferrelli/status/16 ... 8614956033

Coming out of high school:
Four-star prospect by ESPN and Rivals…Three-star recruit by 247Sports… Listed as No. 231 overall player nationally in ESPN300…Ranked as No. 19 athlete in country by ESPN…Checked in as No. 15 running back in nation by Rivals…Rated No. 295 overall nationally in 247Sports Composite rankings…Listed as No. 19 running back in country in 247Sports Composite rankings…One of South Florida’s premier sprinters… Won Florida’s 3A state title in 100-meter dash (10.45) and 200-meter dash (20.78) as junior…Anchored a 4×100 team that captured gold during sophomore year…Picked Miami over offers from Clemson, Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M, among others.

From his HS coach when he signed with Miami:
“To me he’s an Alvin Kamara back, definitely, will probably be around the same size,” Dillard High School head coach Tyler Tate said. “Once he gets to college, in a weight program, he’ll be about 6-0, 195 or 200 pounds.

“He can do everything, is a slasher, very fast, quick and explosive. He can play slot receiver, also outside receiver, catch the ball out of the backfield. He has high versatility, different ways you can use him.”

Love the fact that he could be here for 3 years and continue to mature and develop while playing in front of local family and friends

Committed:

D.J. Warner
Defensive end / edge
6-4 / 235
Goodyear (Kansas), Arizona
Chose SMU over Missouri, among others, and reported offers out of high school from Oregon, Washington, Texas, Ohio State, Oregon State, Arizona, Michigan, Arizona State, Idaho State, Iowa State, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Nevada, Northern Arizona, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Washington State

High school recruiting profile:
Checked in at 6-foot-3, 217 pounds with 33-inch arms at the All-American Bowl. Established himself as one of the most productive edge-rushers in the 2024 cycle after an ascendant senior season where he racked up double-digit sacks and forced nine turnovers leading Desert Edge High School to a state championship appearance. Consistently displays encouraging awareness around the ball which led to a staggering six pick-sixes during his high school career. Redirects extremely well in pursuit and has plenty of bend to dip under or around bigger offensive tackles. Owns an impressive multi-sport profile highlighted by 45-8.75 feet Shot Put and 41-2 feet Triple Jump personal bests which directly translate to his upper and lower body explosiveness on tape. Should be viewed as a day one Big 12 contributor who could eventually become an NFL Draft selection.

H.S. Athletic Background
Also competes in Track and Field.
2023: Set personal bests of 45-8.75 feet in the Shot Put and 41-2 feet in the Triple Jump both of which were good enough to qualify for the AIA Division II State Championships.

Look how many of the top recruiting staffs in the country saw talent in Warner. I wonder if this could be a real steal for us.
