We will be competitive with middle of the pack and lower level teams but will need more elite talent to play with the blue bloods. Hopefully we shoot better and get back on track against Ga Techindianmustang wrote:I guess team is still behind talent wise for ACC play

I'm fired up about the guys coming in next year, but so far we have 2 wings and 2 bigs, right?
The last 2 games have shown we desperately need another ball handler or 2 to help Boopie Miller.

Definitely need a 3 point gunner to replace Harris and Oquendo, who has also been quiet these last 2 gamesHorsePower wrote:I'm fired up about the guys coming in next year, but so far we have 2 wings and 2 bigs, right?

In case anyone wants to see it, this is what the inside of the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill looked like this week.

I think SMU may have played in the Dean Dome the year it opened? I was living in Durham at that time so was able to attend that game (very few SMU people there). UNC beat us easily that night and I sat with a group of guys I worked with near mid-court but high in the upper level. It was a far cry from the 2nd row mezzanine seats I had in Moody before we moved to NC but definitely an impressive basketball facility.H-E-B Mustang wrote:In case anyone wants to see it, this is what the inside of the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill looked like this week.

I feel like on the broadcast they said that game was like one year prior to the dean dome. But I could be wrong.Charleston Pony wrote:I think SMU may have played in the Dean Dome the year it opened? I could be "mis-remembering" because I also remember attending NCAA Tournament games that may have been played in the Dean Dome in the late 80's while living in Durham. SMU beat David Rivers' Notre Dame team in the 1st round before losing to Duke who may have gone on to win the National Championship that year with Laettner, Hurley & company. SMU section had good seats for those gamesPonyTime wrote:I feel like on the broadcast they said that game was like one year prior to the dean dome. But I could be wrong.
Re: GAME THREAD for MBB at North Carolina
Partially correct. The Kato Armstrong-led, seventh-seeded Mustangs did beat 10-seed Notre Dame on St. PatrickΓÇÖs Day in the first round in 1988 in the Dean Dome, which had been open for a few years, and lost to 2-seed Duke two days later. But that Duke team lost in the national semis; Kansas and Zero U played an all-Big-8 final. That was the start of five straight Final Fours for the Devils, though; the first two natties were the last two of those, in 1991 and 1992. Laettner arrived at Duke the year after those Dean Done games; Hurley one year after that.Charleston Pony wrote:I could be "mis-remembering" because I also remember attending NCAA Tournament games that may have been played in the Dean Dome in the late 80's while living in Durham.
