Rallying Point:The Laura Bush School of EducationModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Perhaps he didn't know how to sell the advantages of the program we do have...but if "education major" is what we need to call what we have, that should be easy to fix. By the way, how many of TCU's starters are majoring in education. Serious question, because I don't know, but it might be interesting for someone who has the time to research that to do so (Hello Stallion). You and I don't have the time...we spend it all on Ponyfans. ![]()
Like I said, you can't sell a recuit on a SMU School of Education and Human Development? You can't show him all the wonderful 5000 level courses that SMU has available to undergrads RIGHT NOW or the wonderful grad programs/staff that they have at their School of Education? You can't show them how they can become a PE coach through SMU? If not, are you really the type of guy we want selling SMU to student athletes?
you have to be one of the most naive people I've seen on these boards. Since all your posts on this board have been within 24 hours I think that you should fill us in where you've been for the last 10 years. Have you recently changed your identity? Or are you a faculty member or administration stooge talking academic theory that really would be laughed at by just about any Coach worth his salt. I do you know you have little understanding of the competitive environment in college football recruiting. Seriously think we are owed some kinda of explanation of why you feel so passionately about this issue. You have ZERO track record for us to judge
Stallion, I don't feel I owe anybody any explaination of who I am on this board. You can imagine whatever you want to about me.
In other news, I did the grunt work (go ahead laugh but I have major time gaps at my job) and here are the majors of TCU Football athletes: 15 Communications Majors (we have CCPA, check) 11 Arts/Science PreMajors (???, PreMed?) 9 Business Majors (check) 5 Education Majors (semi-check, ug and grad school programs) 4 Ad/PR Majors (check, we have one of the best around) 4 General Studies Majors (???) 3 Psych Majors (check) 3 Biology Majors (check, and grad program) 3 Liberal Arts Masters (??? check?) 2 History Majors (check, and grad program) 2 Supply and Value Chain Mgt Majors (???, Economics?) 2 Geology Majors (check) 2 Criminal Justic Majors (nope) 1 Kinesiology Psyc/Soc Major (nope) 1 PE Major (semi-check, ug and grad school programs) 1 Environmental Sci Major (check) 1 Entreprenueral Mgt Major (check?) 1 Mgt and Marketing Major (check?) 1 Art Education Major (semi-check, ug and grad school programs plus a very good art/art history program) 1 Broadcast Journalism Major (check) 1 Mech. Engineering Major (check) 1 Movement Science Major (??? Physics?) 1 Social Work Major (? Maybe) 1 Graphic Design Major (check) 1 Business Mgt Major (check) 1 Undecided
You don't owe an explanation but if you aren't someone with a real interest in SMU athletics or NCAA athletics in general that has a track record I can choose to discount your argument-which I do. All posters offering opinions or evidence much like a witness have a level of crdibility that can be believed or not believed. Opinions not based on full knowledge of the subject matter have little probative value. You lack credibility.-and you refuse to tell us your background.
An BA in Education is the same as any other Librat Arts bachelors athough it is specifically gear to prepare students for the TExES exams. If a student is interested in preparing for that exam at SMU he/she may elect to take 3250 Educational Psychology before continuing with other 5000-level courses. A student will take 21 classroom hours and 9 field work hours at SMU along with the other requirements to graduate. A student may also pursue at PhD, and MEd and MM at SMU. The particular subject areas by grade range for which SMU offers teacher certification preparation are: All-level Music Early Childhood - Grade 4: Generalist Grade 4 – Grade 8: English Language Arts & Reading/Social Studies, Mathematics, English Language Arts & Reading, Foreign Language (Spanish, French, German), Mathematics & Science, Science, Social Studies, Theatre Arts Grade 8 – Grade 12: English Language Arts and Reading, Science, Mathematics, Mathematics/Physics, Theatre Arts, Social Studies, Life Sciences, History, Physical Sciences, Foreign Language (Spanish, French, German), Dance, Business, Chemistry, Secondary Art, Computer Science, Secondary Journalism Additional subject areas for post baccalaureate students: American Sign Language, Health, Health Science Technology Education, Marketing Education, Physical Education, Latin, Speech, Technology Applications, Technology Education
you got a source for that TCU roster big guy? There are only 77 players listed-the TCU roster I'm sure is over 100 kids. If this was a study of scholarship players only I don't know I trust you interpreting that data. BTW there is no semi check for an Education major, nor is there equivalent studies for Kinesiology and others.
Haha, you are halaroius Stallion...and (I theorize) slightly manic. I don't need to tell you what sites I visit or what I do, just know that I was a student/SMU during the entire Phil Bennet regime, I have attended 4-5 football homegames every year, I have been on several state and national championship sports teams. I have/can back up everything I've said so far to primary sources so please, lay off my credibility.
sure, go to the tcu website and read their media guide. in coming freshman didn't list their majors. i won't bother giving you the web address. go to the TCU football offical site and find it yourself....big boy.
