Hey I think that "Big Splash" was a hint-seriously-it very well could be The Fridgerdaire "the Fridge" from Maryland. People think they are smarter than you and can't resist a hint. That's it.

You wouldn't want him to cannon ball into your pool.

Maryland beat Purdue in that Chumps Bowl last year, didn't they?

It will definitely be interesting to see how this plays out. Hopefully, the author of this website is right. All I can say is that from where I'm sitting, my position has not changed.

I also thought it was interesting that this website has a direct link to Terry Bowden. Hmmm....

Is 8000 people at a game considered a fan base? Maybe a fan sector...

Basically the test for SMU head coach shold comes down to this:

- If the coach's name is not recognizable by the casual football fan and you have to look him up on wikipedia to get a profile, then he should be cut from the list. In other words, we should all be able to walk into a party and say SMU hired _________ as their head coach and the response from the non SMU fan should be "really, wow, what did SMU do to get him?" not "who is that,.....oh ok....that's nice".

I hope everyone agrees.

Why would he leave his alma mater? MD could match, if not exceed anything SMU threw at him. And it's not like his record been horrible. During his tenure the worst he's been is 5-6.

granted Friedgen has some skins, but that wouldnt be a very exciting hire in my opinion and has the guy ever recruited texas? Give me Turner Gill or even a top assistant from the Big 12 like Venables before the Fridge

This guy also didn't say if it was a current HC at a BCS school so it could be an assistant. Maybe Bo Pellini is interested in SMU.

That is the most accurate statement I have seen on this board related to the coaching search. A big name will generate genuine interest and put fans in the stands for at least a few games. After that all it takes is winning!
