My future support has never and will not be based on the Coach we get even if its not one of my Ten Favorites. It will be based on the implementation of a Model which will allow us to compete. Finish the implementation of the Model and I would increase my support for the program despite the Coaching choice.
I agree with the implementation point. To me the most important objective is to define, gain acceptance and implement SMU's own formula for success. The model or formula needs to be unique by addressing and solving our own challenges:
- non-BCS, private school
- Texas FB history and environment
- academic realities
- recent record vs. historical past
- unmotivated student body.
Someone will be able to prescribe the right solution, but implementing in our specific situation is key.
We are not BCS, a state school or have a large alumni base Vs our historical and regional competitiors. It can and will be solved by the right coach, AD, Athletic Department and Administration.
