Cavan did well two years, '97 and '98. The '98 class was on the heels of a 6-5 season in 1997 and a consequent wellspring of optimism on the Hilltop.

This is such a worthless thread. It's kind of hard to recruit WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE A HEAD FOOTBALL COACH!!

Hey folks, this isn't hard to figure out that we're getting blasted in recruiting by EVERYBODY because there is no staff and the commitments we do have are restless or nervous.

This is why the pressure on Orsini has to be brought to bear! Each minute, we slip further and further behind.

I already said the recruiting season fell apart on Sept. 14 at Ark. State when we lost there and the season spiraled.

There has already been too much damage inflicted on this season.

And Charlie, do us a favor and go extol UNT's greatness on your own board. Like many north texas alums, I can find any one of you guys at a Galloway's nursery tending to the manure section.

Ease up on the criticism of the Doh hire. Doh is a great coach. He is a nationally recognized name. Doh is not the reason DISD has turned its back on SMU. Doh is not the reason he was forced to play several freshman. Doh is not the reason we only have 2 seniors on the team. Doh is not the reason SMU has a sports model that fosters losing.

They do have 7 freshman but only 4 really play.
They have 3 seniors.

I like the hire of Doh. Personally, I like Doh, just not impressed with what I have seen on the court or in recruiting.

Galloways Nursery

Georgie,
Manure section at Galloway's? Man, because it is the Christmas season,
I will give you pass. For a miltary man, you sure left your flank wide
open on this shot. We will play again after the hoildays. Maybe Santa
will bring you a recycled coach. All kidding aside-

Have a safe and happy hoilday season!

You as well. At least you have a coach. Us, not so much!

What? Do you actually follow the baskitball team? As bad as we have looked sometimes this year it easy to see the potential and the overall increase in the talent level that Doh has recruited. Bennie Rhodes when he has played looked raw but still is better than most of the players recruited since Dement got Sasser, Davis and Q. Rhodes was asked to red shirt along with 2 others. In the past these guys would have to play. If Doh recruites 3-4 years of this type of talent level we will be having fun at Moody racking up W's.

Ummm, that's a concern M91. If you look at offers, Doh's class this year seems a step down. Maybe even HE is losing a little recruiting momentum. And don't tell me not having a couple of JCs wouldn't help this team right now, on the court and in recruiting.

Great? ok sure. What is the reason DISD and more accurately South D has turned its back again? Better yet, whose job is it and what are we doing to get them back? It wasnt long ago we had players from Lincoln (Davis, Hop), Kimball (Sasser, Ross), Lancaster (Isham) and Desoto (Dez,Damon H). And if we could have kept Dez from transferring to north freakin texas, we would have another senior leader. but then we wouldnt have as many excuses would we?

Huge opportunity missed by SteveO

SoCall, SMU rarely has JC trasfers for all the reasons talked about on this board. You can't fault Doh for that. As far as this years class it's obviously to early to tell the quality level. I know we are getting for the first time I can remember, serious looks from guys being recruited by top tier schools. That's a big step forward.

Hoops, Tubbs recruited those guys for Dement. We brought Tubbs in to continue to get those type players. Big new confrence all the DIST coaches showing up promising this and that, blah, blah alll talk. Well, we all know what the result of that was. To my knowledge he didn't get one top DISD player. ....and Dez, comon hoops you watched enough basketball to know that guy was soft.

let me let you in on a secret. Papa Dias recruitment started before Doherty got here. He and Bamba are from the same hometown by the way. Papa is the difference maker in the this class. Malone has a some potential and guess what he is not Dohs recruit originally either. Without Papa, this class is nothing special, just big on numbers. Others have commented on next years class, which is ok. I don't know how much you followed recruiting under dement and tubbs but we were under consideration from good players at other times. We narrowly missed out on a kid that went Cincinnati and became a stud. Darrell Arthur had us on his list for a long time. If you are impressed by stuff like that, the current situation is not a big step forward. Tell us the bigtime players we are getting such serious looks from now.
