1. Corey Fuller (5.5) TCU (former SMU commit)
2. Jarrett Ben (5.4) Rice
3. John Shorter (5.3)North Texas
4. Lonzee Range (5.4)Iowa St.
5. James Hamilton (5.5)North Texas
6. Dustin Bell (5.6) Kansas St.
7. Chandler Spence(5.4) Louisiana Tech
8. Ladarrious Gunn(5.2) Idaho (former SMU Commit)
9. Nick Sampson(5.4) UTEP (former SMU Commit)
THESE WERE ALL OF THE BEST RECRUITS LEFT ON SMU'S TARGET LIST. 7 would be the highest rated recruit on our commitment list-another would be equal. In fact there are no recruits on SMU's offer list who are still considering SMU who are rated above 5.3.
While we are on the same page that it would be great to land these players, credibility is lost when the implication is these players were ours to lose and we are not getting them because of the "Orsini Probation".
Let's look at some facts per Rivals:
- SMU has NOT had 1 (ONE) commitment rated over 5.3 from 2002 - 2007 (the data doesn't go back any farther).
So based on our historical performance from 2002 - 2007, we can say there would be a very high probability that we would NOT get the 7 (SEVEN) out of 9 listed that are ranked above 5.3 REGARDLESS of the "Orsini Probation".
- From 2005 - 2007, 18.5% of SMU commitments were ranked 5.3 with the remaining 81.5% ranked below 5.3.
So based on our historical performance, we can say we would have a slight chance of getting the 1 (ONE) player ranked 5.3.
In addition, we have not "lost" any players until they sign.
