1. Corey Fuller (5.5) TCU (former SMU commit)
2. Jarrett Ben (5.4) Rice
3. John Shorter (5.3)North Texas
4. Lonzee Range (5.4)Iowa St.
5. James Hamilton (5.5)North Texas
6. Dustin Bell (5.6) Kansas St.
7. Chandler Spence(5.4) Louisiana Tech
8. Ladarrious Gunn(5.2) Idaho (former SMU Commit)
9. Nick Sampson(5.4) UTEP (former SMU Commit)

THESE WERE ALL OF THE BEST RECRUITS LEFT ON SMU'S TARGET LIST. 7 would be the highest rated recruit on our commitment list-another would be equal. In fact there are no recruits on SMU's offer list who are still considering SMU who are rated above 5.3.

While we are on the same page that it would be great to land these players, credibility is lost when the implication is these players were ours to lose and we are not getting them because of the "Orsini Probation".

Let's look at some facts per Rivals:

- SMU has NOT had 1 (ONE) commitment rated over 5.3 from 2002 - 2007 (the data doesn't go back any farther).

So based on our historical performance from 2002 - 2007, we can say there would be a very high probability that we would NOT get the 7 (SEVEN) out of 9 listed that are ranked above 5.3 REGARDLESS of the "Orsini Probation".

- From 2005 - 2007, 18.5% of SMU commitments were ranked 5.3 with the remaining 81.5% ranked below 5.3.

So based on our historical performance, we can say we would have a slight chance of getting the 1 (ONE) player ranked 5.3.

In addition, we have not "lost" any players until they sign.

uhhhmm-your numbers are wrong-I don't know what the hell you are talking about. You want to recheck those numbers? 3 of them were SMU commitments. SMU gets kids rated above 5.3 all the time. 5.3 ain't that good anyway. Perhaps you need glasses. SMU had an EXCELLENT chance at each and every one of those 9 recruits-you are simply mistaken. All had SMU at or near the top of their lists in recent months.

I stated where the numbers came from - Rivals.

Your response was as expected:

- My numbers are wrong

- I need to recheck those numbers

- I need glasses

- I am simply mistaken

I will provide a link so you can recheck my wrong numbers that I mistakenly put down because I need glasses.

Are you saying you reviewed the link I provided and saw otherwise on Rivals?

These are not my facts, but as I stated ones compiled by Rivals.

Maybe Rivals is wrong - I don't know, but they are the only source I know to check?

If you have another reliable source that you can provide a link to, please do so.

Otherwise, I highly doubt readers find comments such as WRONG and stupid very convincing.

Dude...you need a nap real bad. You just ignore me when I call you wrong. Geez, guy...lighten up.

And Rivals isn't as good as Scout.

(that last comment was a joke...no, really...just kidding around)

Actually, though...Stallion is correct...I can't any reference to ratings other than stars...the 5.4 or 4.7 are 40 times....

Since you are more familiar with that site, would one find the Commitment information by going to the Rivals link below:

http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/commitlist.asp

then Select SMU in the Commitment List

then Select the Year

in order to find the Commitments to SMU for a selected year?

Thanks.

Yes. I was wrong. I was completely looking at the incorrect numbers.

Looking at the correct numbers, from 2004 - 2007 (rankings not listed past 2004) we had a total of 84 commitments with 14 or 16.5% ranked above 5.3.

Assuming we were heavily working the 9 listed recruits, we probably had a good chance of getting some of them as we have historically had 3 - 4 commitments each year from recruits ranked above 5.3 each year.

Hopefully, the new coach will bring some back and bring in others not on our previous list.
