His backup had more career touchdowns. Categorical no. But I'll admit that his numbers aren't exactly eyesores either. A solid 3rd rounder.

After the top ten, the rest suck. You got 43 year old Vinny Testaverde still playing and he wasn't that good when he was young.

We'll definitely miss June Jones and he has turned our program from doodoo, to Bronze.. LoL...
If he does end up at SMU, I'll be rooting for you guys. I love success stories and underdogs making it big time.
Good luck to SMU Football 2008!!!
I know its tough losing your coach, but it might wake up a few administrators and politicians over there to make the necessary changes needed for your program to attain the next level that June was aiming for. If that happens, it will work out in the long run for your school, but I know that it hurts deeply in the short run.
That's what we've thought. Jones has been trying for the last 9 years to get the facilities up to par, and each year they just lie to him. Nothing has been done and I doubt anything will ever be done. If 9years of begging doesn't cut it, I don't think anything will.
Just a question. What does facilities have to do with winning? Going 12-1 is going 12-1, whether you do it in a condo or in a dump. Have you ever been to Penn State and looked at their facilities? Nothing to brag about there. We have the best facilities pound for pound in the nation and can't get to a bowl. IMHO the facilities have nothing to do with it. JJ was ready to go due to nothing else to accomplish there.

What amazes me, and probably Jones, is that the Hawaii AD waited until two days ago to renegotiate his contract to try to retain him. when it's been reported that we contacted them on 12/26? WTF??? Pure incompetence.

Every one of the coaches at UH knew what they were getting into before they took the job. Its not like the facilities just went to [deleted] over night. This upgrading facilities is a bunch of bull. The coaches from Hawaii damn sure knew. One of the biggest and best companies in the world operate out of a metal building in Bentonville Ark.

Hawaii just does not have the money! Let's just face it.

Facilities do matter when you hardly have video equipment that they had to use a camcorder that JJ won in a raffle. Facilities do matter when there is no backup practice field so when it rain so hard in our prep for the Sugar Bowl and our grass field was in bad shape, they just canceled practice.
They don't even show recruits the locker room. I know one player who told me that his small Christian high school locker room was better than UH's.
bigdaddy08091 wrote:StangEsq wrote:Same thing that recruiting and player development have to do with winning...
I will say it again. If a player is not developed in HS he is not even recruited, unless he is a Herman Johnson and stands 6-8 and weighs 400lbs coming out of HS. If you can't block, tackle, catch, throw and run coming out of HS you are cheering in the stands or playing flag. Players play for winning programs and winning coaches. The recruiting coordinators at the top BCS schools are figure heads. They compete for players with who has the most to offer, who they are recruiting and playing time right now. SMU is one of the few schools that develope talent. The rest train talented players. Like film room, weight room, etc...
