I do not think that is what SMU or TCU need right now. I could not think of anything worse than playing in JerryWorld Stadium in front of 50,000 empty seats. Remember the Texas Stadium days? Only time it filled up was when Texas, Arkansas, A&M or Tech were the opponet and we were a top 10 team. Otherwise pretty empty.

Baseball is worth paying up for because it is a bunch of events. No way does the Jerryworld math work - 8 events? Even when they play the superbowl they will all stay in Dallas hotels - so we win anyway.
I would have preferred it be in Dallas but its not such a big loss. The ballpark was a huge loss that would have paid off pretty quick.
And i have to agree on the chicks in control thing - we were doomed with a women Mayor and women head of Dallas County were the ones you had to get through.
My corporate buddies are not buying many if any tickets and not paying up for the boxes - so it may not be such the hit they are thinking - especially if they lose round one this weekend.

you think its gonna be 8 events? 8 regular season cowboys games. then add preseason and playoff. On top of that, add the freakin Super Bowl every few years. The NCAA Final Four every few years. The Cotton Bowl every year. Its more than 8 events my friend.

Annette Straus was concerned about the paypack period and providing subsidies to a private enterprise (baseball) even if revitalizing downtown with 80 or so games. I believe the Ballpark paid off its indebtedness within 40% of the original projection period. Laura Miller simply hated any business plan and wanted a bridge named after herself!
Both hated sports. There can be no other explanation. Any idiot in the world can see the benefit of building a giant stadium on top of some abandoned downtown warehouses or some fair park ghetto. Think about how we could be pushing out slums and replacing it with areas like around the AAC?

Getting into that stadium is going to be ridiculous...current roadways are nowhere capable of handling the traffic that will be generated on gamedays - whether it's the Cowboys, UT/OU, TT/A&M or SMU/TCU.
College games should be played ON CAMPUS! 'Nuff said.
Thats Rich-Somebody from SMU complaining about somebody elses parking problem.

Not much more then 8 - and the big stuff benefits Dallas as much as it benefits little a.
Hey I would liked to have had them - I'm just saying the math was ridiculous - its been proven that public financing of football stadiums does not make sense - basketball/hockey yes - baseball - yes, but not football.

Just took an informal poll for 4 chicks that I know. 3/4 said that they wouldn't support those stadiums either, because they aren't sports fans, and we should build parks, or museums, or blah blah blah blah.
Tell me again why we have the 19th amendment?

Those odds aren't good enough. We need to redefine voting rights based on my "25% Theory" and whatever arbitrary rules I come up with.

Is that where they played, "Spin the Ayatollah?", according to Johnny Carson?

Back off the topic:
Apparently Laura Miller has since said that she should have supported the new stadium to be built in Dallas. Thanks Laura, but you're a few years too late. IDIOT! Next time you hear someone complaining about how crappy the neighborhood is around Fair Park, just remember it could have been different.
