All of my moaning about recruiting escaping us may have been premature. Just think what this guy could do with a full recruiting calendar at his disposal. I sant to see these guys make good on Saturday, but soon.

Rule 2- ignore rule 1. This class looks great- not because of the # of stars but the obvious desire of these guys to excel. My expectations are high not because of the recruits but what JJ can get out of them in performance.
GO PONIES!!!!

What's amazing is how many of these guys never saw the field or even made it to graduation. I know kids come and go, but it seems like we tend to loose a lot of kids for one stupid reason or another. A couple never even made it to campus.

Expony, I would have highlighted Givens before Chase. He showed more in his time at SMU than Chase ever has in my opinion. I would agree with the rest of your highlights.
Also, of the '06 and '07 recruits, McCann has shown he will be a player in my opinion. I am excited to have him. The rest of the others I have only heard good things about. Bell and Bailey got some PT but I did not see anywhere near enough to pass any judgement at all thus far. They are all yet to be determined, like you said.

chase has a lot of potential, and that is the only reason I highlighted him... this COULD be a break out year for him, but with the change in offenses it's doubtful... givens has been decent but not consistent enough IMO. McCann i noted "yet to see full potential" along with chase... decent but not what i have expected from them.... as for bell and bailey, it is way too early to judge, that's why i said yet to see.

Former Offensive or Defensive Players of the Year;
Sturdivant
Haywood
Willis
Muse-best player if not hurt
McCann-most promising young player
The problem is that we need more top recruits. This year Walkons were Players of the Year and we finished 1-11

Thanks perunapower...in a year where you go 1-11, from a coaching standpoint, why not let you walk ons have the player of the year awards. No doubt they deserve it and it could light a fire under some of the other guys.
--sledge was under scholarship, but i assume you meant former walk on

Uh, whether it was intentional or not, it was probably a good thing not to highlight Givens. Has this been discussed or not on the Football board? I haven't paid that close attention. Givens is gone and ain't coming back.

Yes. Someone pointed out that he had transferred to UTEP.

I know Givens is gone but I wasn't using the highlights to show who might be good next year, but to try to point out which of the 3 star recruits under Bennett could be thought of as impact guys and I had Givens ahead of Chase. If you were grading hard, neither would be on the list based on what they have done at SMU thus far.
