OT: OMG, we are losing an all time great to NTSU

Postby mrydel » Thu Apr 10, 2008 7:45 am

The long time Maestro of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, David Itkin, is leaving after the 2009-2010 season to take a position as the Director of Orchestral Studies at NTSU College of Music. Those of you that thought Dodge would not make a difference have to sit up and take notice now whether you like it or not. This is devastating to the entire State of Arkansas and all music lovers as a whole.

Wow, this is a shocker. I thought the only music ensemble in Arkansas was the Marching Hogwaller Band from UA - with its 20 majorettes in tow.

North Texas has one of the finest non-conservatory music schools in the country. It's no insult to lose a musician there, except to the musician himself, who will end up having to live in Denton.

In all honesty, David Itkin has been a true asset to Little Rock and Arkansas. Sorry to lose him.

No offense taken. Of course Denton is a city and Arkansas a state (that knowledge alone lets you know I did not graduate NTSU), but it would be difficult to find a place in Arkansas as bad as Denton. Do be careful when you hear banjos however.

Three. One for each tooth in the head of the "pickers".

A lifetime in Arkansas would be infinitely better than a single night in Denton, and even that might not accurately represent the difference.
