Fred Akers has heart surgery

Post by Peruna_Ate_My_Rolex »

For all those who remember the old school days of the SWC.

Former Texas coach Akers has heart surgery

From Wire Reports

Former Texas head football coach Fred Akers underwent open heart surgery to repair blocked arteries Wednesday morning at the Heart Hospital of Austin, according to his son, Dan.

Akers, who underwent successful quadruple bypass surgery, will be in the hospital's cardiac care unit for several days.

Akers, 65, served as the Longhorns' head football coach from 1977-86, and was an assistant at Texas from 1966-74.

Yep, heart surgery reminds us that football is just a game, not life. Here's to Akers' recovery and the good health of all whom we play with or against.
