You're right. I kept being distracted by the DII tomato cans on the list.
Though to be honest, the 1-5 record against the decent BCS teams is exactly what we're worried about in scheduling our friends in Lubbock, College Station and Ft. Worthless at in the same year. Perhaps my observation would have been better put: "I didn't notice anythign like success against a meatgrinder like TT A$M and TCU"

No problem, I hate how the previous AD scheduled weak teams when he would fail to fill the schedule with decent teams. One thing to consider is that Hawaii can play one more game than normal, so filling the extra spot with a home game against a D-IAA team ($$ that the school needs) is not reducing the strength of the other teams that Hawaii plays...it is just replacing a bye week with a D-IAA team.
One thing to consider is that 2005 was a rebuilding year for Hawaii. The D was in serious need of overhaul and the offense had a new QB (started the season with Graunke, Colt took over after a few games) and several new starting WRs (Bess and RGM were notable freshmen starters).
If you look at 2006, there were wins against Purdue and Arizona State and very close losses against Alabama (fumbles by Hawaii, especially at the goal line and on the final drive of the game, killed the team's chances) and Oregon State (despite giving up a kickoff return for a TD, Hawaii had the ball on the final drive with a chance to win).
