Official petition thread to get rid of "Pony Up" song

When we played at the Cotton Bowl as our home venue, you could buy beer outside and then carry it in.
As pointed out, they sell beer at Cougar High and Tulane during home games....
And countless other stadiums, mostly in the West and East (out of the bible belt).
Would be a great revenue generator if we could do it, but probably against UP rules.

Pure, unequivocal trailer trash. Embarrassing. This was performed on some TV morning show in Dallas the week of the game. The lady who told me about this was shocked. Were the people who authorized this the same ones who had the idea to take a poll to rename Industrial Blvd.? The decision to put them on the field - or anywhere in Ford Stadium - was a huge, HUGE mistake. The Mustang Band is owed an apology. Also, is McFarlin Auditorium not available for dance recitals?

I don't think that's apparent at all. And, no, he doesn't deserve thanks. The SMU people who gave this the "ok" should be shot - today.
I knew Steve-O was going to be a problem on this. I remember talking with him at our SMU tailgate party at the ECU game a couple of years ago. He was EXCITED to see their pre-game show which of course started out with the Metallica song involving a Sandman and Petey the Pirate running out to midfield to lead a cheer. It was sort of like attending an Aggie game but without the charm. He wanted to spice up our pregame as he thought it was stale. I think rather than polling our alums about the abortion that was the opening program, perhaps asking the students what they thought (especially upperclassmen). I heard the song that was posted here the other day, and it was just not right. Would be great for Boulevard entertainment, adequate for a time-out interlude, , or even for the post game victory concert, but as I said before, for pregame, you need something that gets things going. Like the Ohio State and the Tuba to dot the eye in their pregame show. By the time the Tuba gets there, the crowd is nuts. Or Arkansas, calling out the hogs, silly but effective. Peruna running across the field with the flag corps. to "Peruna" is ours, its been ours for 90 years.
If it's Steve-O's touch, then why don't we get 5 or 6 guys dressed up like Peruna handlers, give them some 10-gallon hats, and dub them the "Mustang Guard", inspired by this:

I'm not trying to blame you or anyone in the band for this one, because I know it's not your call, but can you please let the boss man know that the polos don't work with the dress pants and spats? He needs to pick all uniform or all casual, because the mixed attire looked very strange.

I didn't mind the song, but I did mind it being played during the pre-game show. Do something like the Stars do with Celena Rae. While people are trickling into the stadium prior to the band marching on the field and player intro, have him (or someone else) play near the scoreboard.
Leave the pre-game show to the band (hopefully wearing real unis, not polo shirts) and Peruna (the horse and the song). It's tradition!

Frankly, I was expecting SMU to hire Vinnie Paul (former Drummer of Pantera and a Dallas native) to write a new battle cry much like what they did with the Dallas Stars.
Maybe it's just me but country music makes me want to vomit in a bad way. Metal makes me want to tackle someone (which would REALLY help our defense).
