They went to TCU. That's the problem!

With 5:45 left in the 4th quarter during play stoppage, the SMU band was playing, the TCU band was playing, and the Jumbotron/PA was playing a television commerical so loud we could not talk to each other.
If you are going to make the fan experience physically painful through sound torture, there will not be very many people in the stands come November. I use the game day as a social/entertainment event.
Here is a clue; get rid of the PA strategy.

Very, Very Disappointing!! Please someone tell me what happen to the "3rd Down Thunder?" The professor would put anyone to sleep. PA does not even rate a score. They had better do a lot of changes if they want a fan base.
I went to 2 afternoon games yesterday for 2 other of my Grandsons played in, one is 8yr old, watched that game and the 12yr old team game. I heard more thunder and rally at those games than at SMU. The atmosphere was invigoratling.
So naturally I expected more from last night game, even lossing I expected more from our fans. Supporting a team threw difficult times.
But SMU is not doing their part to invigorate the spirit for the fanbase.

you literally have trouble having a conversation with someone sitting right next to you. Turn it down.

Read lips, but hard to do watching a game.

I wish they would scrap all the "get'em pumped up" stuff and just do basic PA commentary on what happened. As far as the getting the crowd into it, when the team starts doing something exciting, the fans will respond. If the defense will regularly begin to stop the opposing team on third down, then we can begin to expect the fans to get up and cheer in hopes of a big stop.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Our game day presentation is not even good high school. I am surprised Steve O tolarates it. I have been to several games at South Bend so it's not like he is unaware of what a good gameday presentaion is like. I wish they would put

It was terrible. Especially with the big $$$ folks on the field having to witness this first hand. Why would any of them want to associate their name with this program? Why would any of them want to continue to associate their name with this program? How does Gerald J Ford put up with that? How does Steve O? Isn't Sewell all about quality? Please, don't donate your $$$ Mr. Sewell, donate a few hours teaching about excellence and quality control. It would be more valuable.
Honestly, heads need to roll. Doing the video/audio stuff isn't that difficult, and there's plenty of time to practice it between games. It was disgraceful and my guests who were at the game with me just laughed the entire time. The boulevard is first class, that's for sure, but the entire game presentation was less than acceptable. R Gerald Turner and Steve O have to get this situation under control. It's one thing to lose on the field. It's another to lose all around the field.

How about the halftime presentation with the smokescreen in front of the Jumbotron blocking the video( which is trying to raise $750 million bucks). The music is absolutely terrible, the video production crews are not prepared for the fan shots and the professor screaming for SMU to get loud looks like they were filmed on a phone camera. I had people from TCu in front of me laughing at how terrible our game presentation is and unfortunately i agree. Our in game presentation matched our football teams performance, TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!
HEY CHILL A LITTLE
We're getting better. At least we didn't burn the south side of the
stadium down again during a fireworks show.
The TCU folks want to make fun. Well I think they were looking for
something, because their south side stadium improvements collapsed,
that's fell down for our froggie folks in FW, during the last off season.

Maybe the athletic department isn't the problem. Maybe it is the fans who come to the game for a party and don't care about football. If you want to have a social/entertainment event, buy a ticket in the club level and stay in the back. IT'S A FOOTBALL GAME!!!
And if the noise is too loud, don't come! Stay at home and watch some golf or other show for the AARP! Things are changing at SMU. Either get on board or stay the F away!!!

What was with the TCU twirler hanging out in our section? And why did the 7-8 folks who were real happy to see each other and needed to do some 'catching up' decide to walk down to about the 2nd or 3rd row in the aisle at about 7:15, with no regard whatsoever for the people trying to watch the game. At least the Metallica pre game was better than "Pony Up." I completely agree that the live technical direction in the booth is pathetic. How much could it cost to get someone from the game-day production staff for the Cowboys to come help the folks running things at Ford? Not saying that I do or do not want us to produce our games like the Cowboys, just that we need someone who knows that if you're going to do the silly "Kiss Cam," you ought to make sure your camera guys have some shots lined up before you hit the button. And it was nice that they spent time setting up the fireworks for half time, how about making sure that the sound from the video gets patched through the first time?
I hate to complain about this kind of stuff, but I agree with others that these kinds of goofs send a poor message to the recruits and their families. Until we start winning and get our fans to actually act like fans (present company excluded, I am sure), we should at least get this stuff right.

I sent an email to a few folks so that at least they know. Truly is embarrasing.
Tickets and waiting
Video Presentation
Halftime
PA system
Concessions
these are not new issues by an means, that is the frustrating part.

I go to an SMU football game to watch the football game...duh. Since when do we have to have "a presentation"? The SMU band provides the "entertainment", the cheer leaders the spirit (supposedly) and the announcer calls out the game ionformation...the down, the yards, the pass caught by, tackle made by, touchdown, etc...and that is all we need. How fricking hard is that?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
