I was so embarrassed. We can't do anything right.

While the PA guy was better this time around, I don't need to see the PA guy on the video leading cheers. I don't mind so much seeing long time profs like Tunks and Helfert, but for goodness sake do it at an appropriate time in the game.

I watched Turner and Ford closely during the rebroadcast of the video presentation. By the looks on their faces, somebody will be out of work on Monday morning if they haven't been fired already.

PK wrote:I go to an SMU football game to watch the football game...duh. Since when do we have to have "a presentation"? The SMU band provides the "entertainment", the cheer leaders the spirit (supposedly) and the announcer calls out the game ionformation...the down, the yards, the pass caught by, tackle made by, touchdown, etc...and that is all we need. How fricking hard is that?
Well said. These screamers who man the microphones at so many venues these days are painful. I'm sure our guy is reading what's put in front of him, but distribute information. When the wins start, so will the noise.

did anyone else notice how bad it was when they were scrolling through Top 25 scores - they would switch scores every half-a-second. i would read the top line score but by the time i wanted to see the other team's score they moved to the next game.

just an amateur performance...we look like CHUMPS!

For what it's worth, I bet the athletic department would welcome feedback from fans, as long as it's presented not as "you suck" .... but more like "here's an idea that might make it better (for whatever reason) ..."
I just don't know who to contact.

There's some guy named Steve Orsini that you might start with. Just a thought. ;)

My girlfriend asked me why our advertising and gameday production wasn't better. She mentioned that we have an awesome business school and that they could probably just get students to come up with better stuff than we currently have.
Fireworks?!? Really?!? Did we not learn from the Navy game several years ago? Turner looked upset when there was no sound on the video, but he looked even more upset when we started the video over and then the smoke was covering the jumbotron (and the rest of the stadium). Bo Levi'n?!? Really?!? I had all 10 of the people I brought to the game ask me about the professor videos and what exactly that was supposed to be. The announcer couldn't get the yardage or downs right through the entire game. I understand him trying to encourage the crowd to get into the game, but it gets a little annoying and the cheerleaders should really be more involved in that.
We've turned the entire game experience into a big joke. And it's not funny...it's just sad.

Two things that really got me was the "professor" asking for noise, while we were on OFFENSE!

And the, "Don't Stop Bo-levi'n" deal when we were getting out butts kicked and BLM has thrown two bad INT's. I guess that was a reminder for us to still have faith in BLM(?)

It was so bad that NTSU alumni that I brought to the game said it reminded them of the cluster f*ck that they roll out at Fouts Field. At that point I was pretty sure we had sunk to a new level. The concessions ran out of food, I waited 25 minutes to get a melted Snickers bar, cold nachos, and a $5 Diet Coke that tasted like plastic. Needless to say I was pissed and had to hear from some of the other 1100 people I helped get to the game(Allen Football League had bought 1100 tickets) that I had similar issues. Our game day operations are totally screwed up. I will say that Terry Hemme did a great job taking care of the boys before the game and getting them on and off the field.

I think Saturday was punishment for all the complaining we did on PonyFans after Texas State.

"You don't like the Desperatos announcer telling you when and how to cheer!?! Well then, we'll see how you like none at all. Back to kitchy "Third Down Thunder" videos on the jumbotron...but this time we'll use SMU professors. Oh? You think "Don't Stop Bo-Levi'n" is pretty clever when you post it on PonyFans? Lets see how you like it when it's blasted at the games!"

There probably is a "Muahahahahah" or two in there somewhere.

1. Turn down the speakers.
2. Don't play rap music or anything that sounds like vomiting. Period.
3. Turn down the speakers some more.
4. Let the cheerleaders lead the students/crowd in some cheers.
5. Hire a crew that knows how to run the videoboard or turn it off.
6. Get the PA guy's mug off of the screen.
7. Find another sponsor besides Public Service Plumbers (although most of the gameday presentatation could use a plunger).
8. Keep turning down the speakers.
9. Learn when it's an appropriate time to egg on the crowd and when it is not.
10. Turn the speakers completely off and use a megaphone or Mr. Microphone.

On the positive, I DID enjoy the team running through the top of the Diamond M. Keep that going. It was the highlight of the game (i.e. the entire night).

That was definitely a big improvement over the Texas State game, although I still would prefer the tunnel.
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

I suspect that because our on-field product is so bad, that Orsini feels the need to make the game presentation more "enjoyable". That causes the silliness we're seeing now. When I see him at the Navy game, I'll mention to him to watch their game presentation. Honor, tradition and class are compatible with college football.

Embarassing  . . . it is like whoever runs the JumboTron has no football sense . . . that or they have a "script" that they have to follow no matter what the situation! The half time mess was even more of a cluster . . . were the fireworks on a timer or something? Whoever set them off once the video ACTUALLY started working must have been told "in 5 minutes, set those bad boys off!" Sad, Sad display and I hope something is done about it over the next few weeks while the Boys are on the road.

At least the grass in the south endzone didn't get burned like it did the last time (Navy game). Several folks armed with fire extinguishers were ready!
